  1. I believe so! One credit is $298 ( I don't believe this includes some fees). The program is 55 credits. If you do the full time program it's 9 credits in the fall and spring and 7-9 in summer. You can check out this link! $14k is a rough estimate, I think it might actually be a little less now that I'm doing the math. https://www.worcester.edu/Graduate-Costs/
  2. You're not making it up! It's so cost-friendly! One year full time is roughly $14k. So the entire program is just under 30k! It's unbelievable. I am out of state as well. Honestly, the cost is the primary reason I chose WSU.
  3. I'm also a newlywed and am in the same boat as you! I'm dreading leaving my wife all day and basically only seeing her at night. I think we will set up a weekly date night, even if it's just sitting down together for a meal at home. I know that my wife is super proud of me and wants to see me succeed. So even though she'll miss me, and I'll miss her, we know that this is going to better our future.
  4. Wow, thank you! My program does offer a part time track! Even if I start full time, I can drop to part time whenever I need to.
  5. Thank you everyone for your insight! I really appreciate it! I would be the one pregnant and a few of you have brought up some things I hadn't thought about, like morning sickness, doctors appointments, etc. This was a strange question and I really can't thank you guys enough for weighing in! Gives me a lot to think about
  6. So, kind of a weird question that most people probably don't have any experience with, but I want some opinions! I'm thinking I'm totally nuts to start a family while in grad school but my wife thinks we can do it. I haven't started my program yet so I am completely unaware of how intense it will be. Any insight from current graduate students about being able to balance school and family would be appreciated!
  7. Not that I know of! I talked to a graduate assistant and she said most classes make on after their program of study meeting in May!
  8. I just sent in my deposit to Worcester State University! I primarily chose this program because of the cost. It is so affordable! I just recently went to the accepted students open house and I was very impressed with the faculty and the clinic. It's a small program, and it seems like everyone is very close! I think I will be very happy there
  9. I'll be attending Worcester State this summer! I chose this program primarily for the price. I recently attended the admitted students open house and I was very impressed with the clinic and all of the faculty members I met! The GA's who were there also seemed to be very happy with the program which gives me hope! I'm very excited to start at Worcester State!
  10. Anyone make their decision on Worcester State? I'm sending in my deposit this week! Would love to start to connect with anyone before the Admitted Students day on April 6!
  11. Anyone start one for Worcester State?
  12. When did you hear from URI? That is the only program I am waiting to hear from. It doesn't really matter because I am 99.9% sure I will be accepting the offer at Worcester State, but it would be nice to have all of my options available before I commit to Worcester!
  13. Thank you again everyone! I've decided to drop the cash and go with a MacBook Air!
  14. I'll be commuting about 45min-1hour! I think it's doable! It was this or Speech@NYU and I chose the commute because the price difference between the two programs was insane! I'd rather commute everyday then have 90k in loans to pay back.
  15. Great! Thank you guys! I am looking into chromebooks because I do have one for work and I love it. But, being an out of major student, I was unsure if we did use any programs that might not be compatible! I will definitely be reaching out to my program coordinator!
  16. Hello all! Now that I have been accepted to the graduate program of my choice (Worcester State) I am in the market for a new laptop and am looking for recommendations! I have a 7 year old Macbook that I loved, but no longer works efficiently. Ideally, I would love another Macbook but my wallet will not allow that. So, what are some good, reasonably priced laptops, that would work well for grad school?
  17. Just kidding! Just got my Worcester Acceptance letter
  18. Has anyone heard from either Worcester State or URI? Or does anyone have an idea when they will be sending decisions out? I was just accepted to NYU's online program and have to give my decision by the end of the month! I'm getting very anxious.
  19. So I sent in my application on time and on the application due date admissions emailed me to let me know that the winter course I had just taken was not on my transcript. It wasn't on my transcript because I sent in my materials before the grade had posted, because I did not want my application to be late. I immediately requested the new transcript and they received it a week later. Does this make my application late?
  20. Hi! Bridgewater's program is brand new. 2017 will be their first cohort. If you did not major in comm disorders as an undergrad, you may want to check out their website for the required prereqs. They require many more than most programs.
  21. Anyone who has been accepted to NYU online distance program, have you heard anything about financial aid? I am waiting to hear if I was accepted but even if I do get accepted I feel like it's out of reach if they do not offer scholarships or good financial aid packages.
  22. So I just took the GREs today and my raw scores were okay. 154 V and 147 Q. My quantitative score makes me cringe but I honestly think it's the best I can do, I've never been very well at standardized tests and being out of college for almost 3 years, this was HARD. I don't have my AW scores back yet but I'm pretty confident I did well. I'm curious to hear from anyone accepted to Worcester State or URI about their stats. Those are the only two schools I am applying to as I own a home and am getting married so I cannot relocate and do not want outrageous commute times. Should I retake the GRE? I've been studying the quantitative section for a few months now and I don't know how much more I can do. I never prepared for the verbal section so I do think if I spent some time reviewing strategies and vocabulary I could do much better. But is it worth the $200? Any input would be great.
  23. Hi! I am new to this site so let me give you a little bit of a background on me. I have a BA in English Literature from a Massachusetts state school with a 3.7 gpa. I am currently taking the prerequisites for a MA in Speech Pathology with a gpa of 3.5, but I still have 4 classes to take. I am planning on applying for Master's programs for fall 2016 and would love some advice on how to spice up my application. I don't have any clinical experience, as my undergrad major was not Speech-related, and am not sure how I can obtain that sort of experience now. I have not taken the GREs yet but am currently studying to take them in the summer and I have already started my personal statement as I want that to be the strongest part of my application. So far my number one school is Emerson and Worcester State is number 2. I will also probably be applying to every other school in MA and RI that offers the program because I cannot afford to move! Any information you have about these schools, the application process, or just general tips would be greatly appreciated! After reading a lot of threads I'm nervous I won't be accepted! Help me get accepted the first time around! Thanks!
