  1. If you don't mind my asking, what kind of program was this? That seems really high compared to funding I've seen for clinical programs, most of which seem to offer around 20k per year before tuition is taken out. Unless it was 38k in total for two years? If you don't feel comfortable answering that's totally understandable!
  2. I don't know anyone personally, but if you look at the admissions stats for most schools you can see that pretty much all of them extend more offers than there are available spots. Like at Ryerson in 2015 they had to make 15 offers for an incoming cohort of 9, and I've seen similar numbers at other schools. Don't give up hope yet
  3. I'm sorry to hear that, but thanks for letting me know! It's weird though, I wasn't invited to the visiting day after my skype interview and I was pretty much told I would be rejected. Maybe they're sending rejections over a few days or something.
  4. Thanks for letting me know! I'm glad to hear you have options that are a better fit for you best of luck with OISE!
  5. To the person who got the rejection from Ryerson- I'm so sorry you were rejected! Would you mind telling me if it was an official rejection or if it was from your POI? I'm 99% sure I've been rejected as well so I'd like to know.
  6. For anyone who applied to Concordia, the admissions committee is meeting this week (finally) so we will hopefully hear back next week sometime.
  7. Does anyone know common it is for clinical students to already have a masters/how much of a difference it makes? I finished undergrad last year and was fortunate to get accepted to grad school this year. I'm concerned that I'll be behind, though, because it seemed like a lot of people I interviewed with have an MA. Imposter syndrome setting in already lol... Do you guys think people with a previous MA have a significant advantage when it comes to coursework/research?
  8. That's crazy! A lot of people will probably have accepted offers by then so they're going to miss out on a lot of great students.
  9. Just wondering, does anyone know anything about funding at York? I can't find any information on it online.
  10. It wasn't working for me either... it seriously interfered with my obsessive stalking
  11. That's awesome!! There's no relief quite like finally hearing back from an MIA reference
  12. It might help to call their departmental office to see if you can get their phone number or to find out their office hours. I hope you get in touch with them- it sucks having to track people down for references!
  13. Some profs have submitted their recommendations, but we won't hear back about decisions until early march sometime... I'm not sure if I'll survive lol
  14. Do you guys think it's a big deal if you don't do this? My top choice POI has recommended me to the admissions committee but after reading this thread, I'm terrified that I didn't show enough excitement/interest. I did send a really enthusiastic thank you email after the interview that mentioned some of my favourite parts of her research/the program, but I didn't mention that it's my top choice or anything. I know it probably doesn't even matter at this point because her recommendation has been submitted, but application season has turned me into a crazy person and I'm irrationally afraid that she'll change her mind haha
  15. Congratulations to all the people getting acceptances I'm living vicariously through you guys while I slowly lose my mind from all the waiting.
  16. I think faculty generally submit their recommendations to an admissions committee or to the university, who then review candidates to make sure they meet the program's requirements like GPA, GRE scores, etc. The department also might still be establishing which profs have priority for accepting students, and in that case, the committee will determine which recommended students will receive offers. So it isn't an unofficial acceptance, but definitely promising!
  17. To the person accepted to Western- congrats!! Could you please message me your POI if you don't mind?
  18. I didn't apply, but I know people in the program and I'm fairly familiar with it. PM me if you have any questions
  19. At one of my interviews, there were 5 of us competing for 1-2 spots. My POI at my next interview is interviewing 3 people and taking one. I think POIs usually interview 3-6 people for each spot, although I have heard of some who interview upwards of 10. I definitely don't think that's normal though lol
  20. If you think you'll play with your hair or touch it, I would consider wearing it up. Touching your hair a lot during an interview is definitely something faculty members will pick up on. I'm speaking from experience... I do it sometimes when I'm nervous and one of my POIs found it noticeable enough that she brought it up in a conversation with my current supervisor needless to say I will be very careful with my hair for future interviews lol
  21. If anyone is wondering about Concordia, I was recently told by someone there that recommendations have to be in by next week and final admissions decisions will be made in early March. I know some faculty members are less forthcoming than others about the admissions process, so I thought I'd share!
  22. I've only interviewed at schools where my POI does research on the same general topic that most of my experience has been in, although they all study different populations. I honestly think that that's the main reason I got interviews- my area of research is quite small and not as many people have experience with it compared to some other areas of psych.
