Need Coffee in an IV got a reaction from CuddlyWingman in Federal Jobs?
My mom works in the government and my boyfriend has been applying for jobs so I can help (kinda). Two months is very common/normal for the government. Usually what happens is that they will eventually send you an email saying if you are under-qualified, somewhat qualified, qualified, and highly qualified. Usually they only add people to the interview list if they are highly qualified. After you have been added to the list it will take another month or so to possibly be invited for an interview. They usually never tell you if the position has been filled or not (boyfriend applied in Nov, is still waiting after being informed he made the list that goes to the hiring manager). So tbh the best way to get a job is too pretty much apply to every opening you see. And people who are already in the system have "dips" on job openings. Good luck, its tough.

I just got accepted into my top choice school!!!! I'm moving to Pennsylvania in the Fall! Thank you all for keeping me sane during this process. Finally, after several years of trying to get into a PhD program, I finally have.

After two rejections, my first offer came yesterday night! From one of my top choices!
Great feelings. I am really excited to share this with my advisors.

This is literally one of the best feelings I've ever had (I got into a top choice after being rejected by four other programs). Thanks to everyone for being supportive and amazing!

Well, I'm happy to say after 2 application cycles I seem to have my first acceptance with funding at Indiana. The letter from the DGS indicated that I can expect to get the official offer as soon as the details are worked out. Not a 100% slam dunk, but I hope, for the sake of humanity and basic morality, that I wouldn't have gotten this email if they weren't really for real. It's all very shocking and it hasn't set in yet, since I've been waiting for this email for over a year now (with a lot of rejections in between).
Thanks to everyone here on this forum, and hang in there for all of you still waiting on that first acceptance.

@Neist That does seem huge for an abstract. Then again I can't really remember the word count for my friends' research so it may be normal? I'm happy you like your research so much/has potential for expansion. And thanks for helping me out! My boyfriend keeps telling me to breath ha.

Exactly! I'm hoping that i won't have to use plan b because I know I need that MA for what I want to do. Or I could use all my rejection emails/letters as material and open an etsy store. Maybe I could earn enough money to recoup one application fee.

Sorry that line really bugged me. Some people don't want to get married but still have kids. I know it's a TV show we are talking about, but that seems a bit judgmental to me.

Nope nope nope!  Danny has never accepted Mindy as she was.  He's always been a grumpy old man who complained about everything about her.  I think the writers were hoping we'd forget this, but if you go back to the earlier seasons you see it all over again.  Then think about how he treats his mom and his ex wife, always controlling everything because according to him everyone else is stupid and he knows best.  That's why I was saying right from the beginning that their relationship wasn't believable.  In real life all the coworkers would have slapped Mindy and reminded her that Danny is a huge ass and she needs someone who gets her and thinks she's sexy.
For me Danny being even worse this season was the writers finally letting him be himself instead of trying to force him into being a person he isn't.  This was painfully obvious when he kept stalling on the whole marriage thing.  If Mindy were truly his type and the love of his life they'd have been married ages ago and not playing house with a kid out of wedlock.  Then all of a sudden he thinks maybe he doesn't need to get married?  Yeah right.  Then he's like sure we'll get married, but we can wait until Mindy comes to her senses and changes to be someone he knows she can't be?  Yeah right.  So even though he's awful and I hate him this season I like that he's doing his thing.  Good grief...I am so emotionally invested lmao!

In totally unrelated news, have you guys seen cookie the penguin? My friend was sad so I sent her this to cheer her up and now I'm in hysterical laughter too.

Sounds like a lot like my dad! He has accused me for lacking empathy and loyalty to my family a lot. It was pretty awful but it's manageable now since I live 6 hours away and I've gone to therapy. I can't change him, but I can change my actions towards him. Now I just don't upset anymore and go on with my business.

I liked this one "At least I won't have to deal with football traffic and the judgment stare of touchdown Jesus." Its even funnier when you compare it to the bitter person below them!
