SLP Declining Offers 2018

I declined my offers to Cal Baptist & Southeastern Louisiana University -
Yes, I definitely mulled this over! While Southeastern would definitely be more logical financially...I just don't think I can turn down the opportunity at LSU! I'm very interested in pediatric dysphagia & the medical side of speech
-
Thank you!! Yes, very interested in the med opportunities.

I just got off of the waitlist at LSUHSC-NO! Ahhh! Freaking out bc this is my #1 choice but now also torn bc I have an acceptance to Southeastern & they have opportunities to go for free vs. loans at LSUHSC. LSUHSC also starts in a month & I live in California currently!! Oi... big decision to make.. can anyone shed some insight?

Do people actually get off waitlists?

Thanks for the update! Haven’t heard a peep. Did you interview?

UWEC-Eau Claire has a Neuro class online - its within their SLP online prereq courses. I took this as an accelerated course (8 weeks) in the summer term. It was intense but definitely doable.

Hey, I also applied here and haven't heard a peep. I called two weeks ago & they said decisions were going out last week..but I know there is also an interview involved? I am not interested in attending now that I have another offer, but if I hear something I will most definitely let you know!- 439 replies

It certainly is NOT! Hoping decision day comes faster than it seems !

Do people actually get off waitlists?
TurboDog15 replied to HooHooHooHoosiers's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I think it varies by school! The one school that I'm on the waitlist for starts in May & their accept/decline is this week, so I'm hoping it's before April 15th!! But I'm sure many schools that start in August could be any time, really! -
I'm not sure how they conduct their process or if they send acceptances in rounds..but I imagine they would have done all interviews by now? But who knows! I inquired about my spot on the waitlist but have not heard back...I imagine we would find out final decisions within the next couple of weeks? Hang in there!

Has anyone gotten acceptances yet via a waitlist? I feel like it’ll come sooon as April 15 approaches... getting so anxious! -
As far as on the second note...where are you attending in CA? Also, are you worried about the financial aspect of graduate school or will you be using loans to cover, etc? I ask these things bc for someone currently living in CA, the cost of living is very high & on top of that, I am going to cover school with loans (esp bc you can only work minimally in grad school, if at all). In the grand scheme of things, though graduate school is only two years, I didn't want to have to worry about accumulating 75-80k in debt, on top of my undergrad debt! Of course this is just my opinion & my own financial situation I think if financial situation isn't an issue.. make a pros & cons list & go with your heart! It sounds like you are leaning toward CA, but just remember, in the end you'll get your CCC's no matter what! California is a beautiful place to be...just get ready for the traffic hehe Hope this helps !!

What Schools Are You Waiting On!?
TurboDog15 replied to speechie2b's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Still waiting to hear back from UL-Monroe, U of Montana & Biola. Got accepted to my #2 so will most likely go there, but also waiting to find out if I get in off of the waitlist of my #1 (LSUHC-New Orleans). Let me know if anyone is denying admission to LSUHSC -
Can anyone provide any information about Southeastern’s CSD program ? I was accepted on Monday and I’m so excited! However, I don’t know much about the school..what the campus is like, clinical opportunities, etc ?
