  1. Not me. Not a peep from HGSE.
  2. @isa-misa Thanks for the information! I have to say, @isa-misa I've noticed you popping up on a few of these threads and you always seem to have the inside, current, intel. Are you Linda Darling-Hammond in hiding? Have little birds in each office? Maybe just a rock star who's been accepted into all top 10 programs already? You've piqued my interest! And clearly I have a wild imagination...
  3. That's good to know. Seems like only one person posted?
  4. @isa-misa I applied to the Policy Program, and when I called I was told there would be no interviews. Are you speaking just of the Higher Ed program? I hope? Congrats @higheredbee
  5. I know it's awful, how accessible things are. And then there's that niggling part of my brain that is fearful of accidentally trashing an acceptance inadvertently, the butt dialing of grad school screw ups. I'm sure the chances of accidentally hitting the trash icon before actually seeing, say, Harvard's email acceptance is highly unlikely, but since my applications are in, my email is checked, my spreadsheets are filled out and there is nothing to do but let my mind wander, this is what I worry about. I've checked my spam box 11 times today already, BTW. I'm actually praying that there will be no internet service in DC tomorrow from the massive crowds and I won't be able to check anything at all.
  6. Ah yes just went back and re-read this, @OutdoorsEd. I guess I meant I wonder why I got more specific information about today vs. next week. Anyone know what it means to be "second round?" Waitlist?
  7. What did he say when you called? I didn't tell him my name just asked when we could expect to hear. Hmmm...
  8. @mjl89 Looks like you're right! Someone just posted an interview notification for Penn Education (Quantitative Methods And Evaluation), PhD (F17) !!
  9. So I'm home from work, sick, which is a drag because it's a day of mourning for many of us. Not to turn political but today I'd much rather be distracted by work from both the inauguration and this PhD waiting game. Bolstered by @OutdoorsEd I gave Peabody a call, and I was told that first round candidates, who will receive interviews, are still being determined and that some people have not been notified. They expect notifications to be complete by the end of day. So that's good news for some of us, I should hope! I did not ask for specific programs, and I'm trusting @Espeon's intel on my specific program (LPO) is accurate He said 2nd round candidates will be notified later next week, not sure what that means exactly...
  10. Yes @jmaroon that would be helpful. I checked last year's results and only 3 PhD interview notices were posted, and all on the same day. I'm still hoping for a shot to interview for the CIS PhD program. Anyone hear from them? LOTS of lurkers.
  11. Thanks @OutdoorsEd and @ugggggh for calling up and posting.
  12. Totally irritating. Every time I get one I get excited and then I realize who it is.. Womp womp
  13. I've gone back and re-read previous year's threads for my schools, and from what I can tell, if a school gives interviews, and you don't get one, you will most likely, eventually, and after a few months of waiting, be rejected. So, I made a T-chart: schools that give interviews, and schools that don't. I found that process helpful to at least have a sense of what I am waiting for. One school I wasn't sure of so I called them and they very nicely informed me that they don't do interviews and that they'll be sending out notices at the end of January.
  14. Sigh. Neither has mine! But still, you never know, and I have lost other genuine, important emails in my spam...
  15. @jmaroon That is so nice of you to pop in and share that. Good luck to everyone! I just know we're going to get more than one interview among us. My hands just started sweating just typing this...
  16. We are four weeks out from Penn's interview weekend (Feb. 17-19), anyone want to make predictions on when invites will come out, based on past years? Looking for ways to pass the time
  17. I was just getting on here to see if there was anyone else talking about HGSE, @Espeon Anxious and worried more like! I feel like we're going to hear a ton from different schools in the next week or so...
  18. Slackers! Kidding. Wish I had your self-control, @GeorgeC07
  19. Luckily I'm swamped with work and extra projects I've taken the lead on so my anxiety is more of a gentle hum in the back of a crowded room. Most of the time. Getting on here to see I'm not the only one helps, for sure. It also does the opposite, of course. Hiking/walking outside usually takes my edge off but in dead of winter it's not so easy to do. Today was pretty nice though so spending several hours outside was calming. What do you do @day_manderly?
  20. jam band
  21. Great topic @Espeon. I read everything I could on the general interview thread on GC; that was pretty helpful. I also made a list of questions based on what other GC'ers recommended. It's a Google doc so if anyone wants it, PM me and I'm happy to share the link. Then, before each conversation, I reviewed it and reviewed the interviewer's bio as well as any work I could find of theirs. This was helpful although still a nerve-wracking experience! Interested in others' advice as well.
  22. Is there really only one of us who was extended an interview? That's hard to believe. Although, I guess if they only interview 12 per program, it's possible.
  23. Agreed. When I reviewed previous year results, I noticed there was typically only a 2-3 week window between notification/invitation and actual weekend.
