  1. Congrats! For the CRA program, as well?? Very exciting news, @1too3for5 I got an email thanking me for applying... "We simply wanted to touch base and let you know that your application is still going through the review process." So, not a rejection, which is always nice.
  2. @OutdoorsEd Do you mean the application checklist? Mine does not have my SOP either, just letters, GRE, and transcripts. I wouldn't worry.
  3. @DBear Exactly!! I need to have the strength to just turn off my email for stretches of time.
  4. I love a happy ending. Well done!
  5. Movie star
  6. @JankyGuitar I thought the EdLd was more competitive but I really don't know. I heard a HGSE admissions person say they usually get "hundreds" of applications for each program. I took that to mean closer to 200. My mistake! @Vulpix or @jmaroon do you know if 700 is typical? More curious than anything.
  7. @jmaroon Great to have those numbers to keep it in perspective. To save ya'll the trouble of pulling out the calculators (unless you got a 170Q, in which case I'm sure you did this in your head already), those of us who applied to the PhD have the following chances, by my estimations: 4% chance of acceptance overall 14% chance of landing an interview 100% chance of being awesomely audacious for even applying to such a competitive program Does that jive with your math? @JankyGuitar glad you found us over here. Your nervous optimism is most welcome.
  8. I have mixed feelings about this kind of communication. While I'm glad they keep in touch, and it does feel nice to be remembered, it also makes my heart STOP to see any mail or email from schools during this time of high anticipation.
  9. I see that! Looks like they're all from CRA but nothing from LPO. Anyone know if they all hold interviews the same weekend across programs at Peabody?
  10. @Kilos, oh, I so understand. I feel a little sick now thinking about both the incredible process of relocating if accepted, the devastation I'll feel if I don't get accepted, and the agony I'm in thinking about how we will now soon know one way or the other. I went to grad school before and I don't remember feeling this worked up about it--it feels so different this time.
  11. @Espeon good catch! Interesting that they're already waitlisted, yet no one posted that they've been interviewed or admitted.
  12. @jmaroon Great information, glad to hear it from an inside source! Appreciate you passing that along. @Kilos no kidding about the nerves--this just got real. Eeekk!!
  13. Just wanted to update everyone who stepped in and offered advice. I talked to a current grad student for about an hour last week. The time flew! I got a great sense of her experience there. What I wasn't prepared for was the very specific questions about my research interests, etc., as it felt like an interview, which in a way I guess it was. I enjoyed talking to a current graduate student and have a much better sense now of what I might want in a potential program, and am now ready for more conversations soon (hopefully). Thanks again for everyone's help. I am glad I stumbled upon this community by Googling "what do do while waiting to hear back from graduate school."
  14. @Espeon sounds great and appreciate the update! Did she leave you with a sense of next steps, something along the lines of, "I'll be ringing Monday to officially accept you," or "You sound amazing! Check your email Tuesday," or even, "We're doing interviews the second weekend of February, can you make it?" Perhaps, "Check your email on January 29 at 3:02 pm?" Sounds like a good conversation and that you'll be hearing good news soon. I'm just waiting for the slew of education posts on the results page to start soon!
  15. I applied to more than 5 and I saw no mention in any of them about foreign language requirements. Hmmm...
  16. Hi @JankyGuitar! There's a bunch of us who are waiting to hear back from HGSE over on the education thread under social sciences. Join us! I'm a PhD applicant but I believe someone else posted about waiting to hear back about EdLd as well. You'll be in good company. I haven't applied to graduate school in 12 years either! Nice to meet a fellow "mature student."
  17. Beauty product
  18. Drinking game
  19. Good news @phdthoughts! Rooting for you!
  20. @day_manderly I'm ROFL. I'm queen of self doubt so I guess I fit in here. It's Friday! Can't imagine we'll hear anything over the weekend.
  21. @Espeon that sounds very promising indeed! @nikkimx congrats to you, as well!
  22. @jmaroon I'd go ahead and scan in official copies anyhow to have on hand. Different schools have different requirements, and I was held up the day beforemy apps were due because one school required official and front/back and I only had unofficial and/or single sided of a few of my transcripts. I'd never paid much attention before! Good luck to you!
  23. @Espeon that's fantastic! Who emailed you? Is it a prof you mentioned in your statement? We need details!
  24. @phdthoughts oh gosh that's awful! I'm sure the school will understand.
