I submitted the final version of my Vanier application. Results: March 31, 2019. Wow.

Thank you. My supervisor also thinks it's doable. I hope I'll be able to finish this for April 15.

Hello everyone, so I am working on my grant application (2 page research proposal) for a very prestigious scholarship for PhD. I am using qualitative methods (print media articles, interviews & focus groups) for my project. As I am writing my grant application, I have a feeling that the Analysis section of my application is not as clear as it could be. The thing is that I don't know how to make it clearer. I've been working on this for a long time and have to submit it tomorrow. I am currently a master's student and still don't have a clear sense on how to analyze media articles, interviews and focus groups for one research project. Help? Thanks!

Good luck to everyone who is being forwarded to Ottawa!

I'm halfway done transcribing another interview today. Yay!

Transcription of qualitative interviews - which program?

ExpressScribe has expired I can no longer use their free version.. -
Not really because in SW, at my uni, I am the only student doing a thesis option at the master's level on a cohort of 30-40 students. Everyone else graduated last year because they were doing a field option... but I am part of some groups outside of my department, I can definitely reach out. Thanks!

I got forwarded to the institutional competition for SSHRC Doctoral. I finished transcribing one interview today and began coding.

thanks to both of you for your answers btw.

Yes, these researchers are familiar to me since last week (I did research on grounded theory in the last couple of days).I asked to meet with my advisor, but she cancelled on me again (she's so busy). But I went to the library and took three books on grounded theory, it's from the authors you've mentioned. I'm still trying to figure out how to concretely analyze my data, like a step-by-step thing. I feel confused. Plus, I am going to have a workshop on how to use NVivo (I bought a license) which I don't know how to use yet.

I have to submit my thesis (final version) for April 15, 2019. Currently (October 2018) I have 9 interviews of 1 hour each + 1 focus group of three hours to transcribe. I can't hire someone to do it for me for a number of reasons I won't list here. I have to use grounded theory to analyze my data but have zero idea how to begin and what are the steps. I feel like I won't be able to make it for my deadline (it's a master's thesis).

I'm afraid I won't finish my thesis on time

I was forwarded to the national competition for the Vanier scholarship!

I'm happy, but am curious to see the comments the committee has given me. Also I feel like half happy because the battle is not won..

Waiting to see if I made the cut for the internal selection process for Vanier. I was supposed to know today. It's almost 4pm and still no news from my uni...I'm having a heart attack.

I keep checking my emails, still no news

For this year’s applicants, did you get any news so far from the internal selection process of your university? I will know if I made it to Ottawa tomorrow...

What happens if your NSERC documents have a minor formatting error?

Same thing for me, I made a minor error in my FRQSC application but you’re not alone! These things do happen -
Transcription of qualitative interviews - which program?
Adelaide9216 replied to Adelaide9216's topic in Research
Hello, silly question but do you always have to type the verbatim of the entire interviews? Are they methodologies that suggest listening to the audio tape and selecting only the most interesting parts of it ? Because I have for like 50 hours of transcription -
Hello, is it better to participate in conferences that are general and reunite people from many different fields or is it better to participate in "specialized" conferences that is right on your research topic?

I'm so anxious. So much stuff to do + family problems
