  1. Maybe try to publish something (either a newspaper article, or a scientific article) based off your master's thesis ? I am in social work though. I am going to try to do that this summer.
  2. Are they worth the hype? Which ones is best in your opinion?
  3. I want feedback on my thesis asap to graduate on time but my supervisor seems beyond busy we've made a schedule today, hopefully she'll stick to it.
  4. Just a question like that. I'm asking multiple people in my field to have a better sense of this.
  5. Thanks!
  6. I got forwarded to the national competition for SSHRC Doctoral.
  7. I got forwarded to the national competition for SSHRC Doctoral by my university
  8. I feel so anxious.
  9. My future thesis supervisor told me that I should have an offer of admission before the deadline to apply for Trudeau. Yay!
  10. Someone wants to nominate me for an award. They told me today.
  11. One of my friends is going to the United Nations in March to speak about women’s issues. I could’ve applied as well to be part of this but I did not because I wasn’t confident I’d get selected. I also think I am not experienced enough to talk about these issues. I feel bad, I should have applied instead of having impostor syndrome as my research is directly on this topic.
  12. I have a job interview in a few minutes. I'm scared that I am not qualified for this job, but at the same time, am aware that I am probably under-estimating myself because my competencies and work experience do align with what they are looking for. I guess it's just being nervous about doing something I have never done before. But it's also related topic on the TAship that my master's thesis supervisor gave to me this term.
  13. double.
  14. My prospective uni has an internal deadline at the end of January. I can't apply right now because I don't have an admission offer in my hands right now. But I am ready to apply. It sucks but worst case, I try next year. I emailed my phd thesis advisor to know if he knows when admission decisions will be given.
  15. I totally understand the feeling. I hate when LOR writers are last minute. So anxiety-provoking on top of that.
  16. Looks like we're gonna know the results on April 4th, 2019. Funding Organization Vanier CGS Program Name Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships : 2018-2019 ARCHIVED Program Launch Date 2018-06-19 Deadline Date TBD Important Dates Competition 201810CGV CLOSED Application Deadline 2018-10-31 Anticipated Notice of Decision 2019-04-04 Funding Start Date 2019-05-01
  17. Ohhhhh, I just got your question. Sorry about that! CGS (Joseph-Armand Bombardier) Doctoral and SSHRC Doctoral are both the "regular" scholarships. You are considered for both automatically I believe. One is less prestigious of the other though. Value Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program Doctoral Scholarships: $35,000 per year SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships: $20,000 per year Duration Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarships Program Doctoral Scholarships: 36 months SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships: 12, 24, 36 or 48 months
  18. I don't know yet if I will be forwarded for SSHRC Doctoral, I hope I'll be. I applied to 4 scholarships just in case I don't get Vanier.
  19. The Vanier Secretariat (for which there is three research councils depending on the domain of your studies) awards 167 scholarships. Each research council gives 55 scholarships. So SSHRC will give 55 Vanier, as well as NSERC and CIHR. So there's Vanier SSHRC, Vanier NSERC and Vanier CIHR. SSHRC Doctoral is the "regular" competition, with awards of a lesser value. So SSHRC Doctoral and SSHRC Vanier are two different things. They also require two separate applications. I don't know if it's clearer.
  20. I unactivated my FB profile yesterday, but kept Messenger. I need a break.
  21. Good to know. What about Canada?
  22. It seems like I won't be able to find an apartment, a bachelor or a studio in either Gatineau or Ottawa for less than 1000$ (furnished). Did anyone here live in the uOttawa residences? Are they worth the hype?
  23. Bluelines. I have been using them since grad school. Never going back to something else. https://www.blueline.com/index.php/weekly-monthly-timanager-planner-c5933-81bt.html?___SID=U
  24. I received the comments and the evaluations of my students for my TAship last term. Only positive feedback and comments!
  25. I submitted a book proposal that would stem from my master's thesis to an editor I met a few months ago in person. Fingers crossed.
