  1. @indecisivepoet you are asking some great questions on here! Definitely seem ready to pursue a PhD-was just reading your question about conferences-I was happy to get some feedback in that arena! Good luck!
  2. good luck at Penn @bpilgrim89! I went there for undergrad (very long ago)- who will you be working with? Al Filreis is so much fun!
  3. Excellent scores-no one will care about your Quant score! DO not waste time with a retake- just my opinion, but once you reach a certain threshold, ad coms looking at writing. By the way, these scores are fine for any ivy if your writing sample and SOP stand out. Good luck! 84% on subject test is amazing-that test is a bear.
  4. See you up there! Congrats!
  5. This is JUST my opinion and I am sure others on here will disagree but I do not think this test is worth spending time on. Only the tippity top schools require it, and I think that by the time the committee even looks at the score, it is well after they have read SOPs and WSs. I think the general GRE is more of a factor. One of my schools required the subject test, and I wasted a lot of time and energy to study for a difficult test, receive an abysmal grade, and reel from self-doubt for the rest of the application cycle. After my general scores came back, I actually emailed a POI who recommended retaking it to get my writing score up a bit-point is, they look at that. Incidentally, I retook it and did worse and still got in to the program! But, I get it-if you have to take the test, you want to do your best-just keep in mind that the general test AND more importantly all of your written material are much more important.
  6. Officially going to UConn! Thanks all, for going through the process with me-it definitely helped!!
  7. Farmington is rural but very close to Hartford. I love downtown Hartford, especially right near the Infinity Music Hall, the capitol, Wadsworth Atheneum (actually by the UConn Hartford campus). Lots of bars and restaurants. The walkway along the river is nice as well. West Hartford is a bit more upscale with restaurants and shops. If you could live in capitol area that would be fun! Like any city there are some poorer sections (near Trinity College) but you will quickly learn. I am from CT but an hour from Hartford so I don't know any more than this cursory info! Good luck!
  8. I would think that is a good assumption. Do you have your Masters? I got a rejection on 3/13 and I already have a Masters (in May, anyway!)
  9. AAAAANNNd a Fordham rejection wraps it up for me! Absolutely thrilled and so fortunate to be going to UConn next year! Good luck to those still waiting to make decisions!! Off to check the schedule for the women's b-ball tournament!
  10. I have basically already made up my mind about going to UConn, but I want the rejection letter from Fordham so I can have closure!!
  11. What do you think about the two waitlists on the results board? Interesting...
  12. Writing my M.A. thesis on JF Cooper and Thomas Cole. However, I absolutely ADORE Mary Wilkins Freeman and would love to study her a bit more.
  13. Still waiting on Fordham! Wait lists went out a week ago and no acceptances or rejections on board for this year. I am assuming a rejection, but would like closure so I can commit to a program already!!
  14. did you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page (it is in tiny font with a link to click on)?
  15. Finally received my rejection from CUNY. I am amazed at how this process works! I have an amazing fit/ feel where I got accepted. I tried to make a fit where there really wasn't one at the places where I was rejected. It is all about fit people!!!
