Does retaking classes for a better grade raises your GPA?
JohnKim replied to Nelly Mc's topic in Applications
Have you tried doing some self-study? Test prep like Preped, Magoosh, Kaplan, etc can help you out and would not cost you that much. -

To redo or not, that is the question (V-152, Q-152, W-5)
JohnKim replied to Tigla's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Your writing is already doing pretty good, but you have low scores on Verbal and Quanti. You might need to retake. Although, you can check your school if their GRE score requirement matches yours. -
Hmmm your perfect score in Quantitative and Verbal would pretty much bring your AWA up. How about you try applying to schools first?

A perfect or near-prefect score would be achievable. But the best solution is to check first which school you'd like to apply and what's the GRE Score they require for your program.

I agree with this post.

Thank you so much TakeruK!

Targeting a score of 165 for each section is really cool. You must really be determined, focused and manage your study time well. You might need a LOT of practice tests for that though, just a thought of mine. I, on the other hand, is targeting a perfect score (although it is nearly close to impossible that I'd get that score, but at least I am trying). I have been using and investing on practice tests to help me with my self-study. Test preps such as Preped, Magoosh, Kaplan and Princeton for now helped me a lot. Preped is my number one choice, it has the Nova Press and Greenlight Test prep in their platform. Magoosh and Kaplan really do have tutors that are quite helpful, they provided me with tips and tricks. Hope my answer can be of inspiration and would really be helpful.

Your essay is really great. The construction of sentences down to paragraph is very well thought. There are some minor issues though, it might be typos: 1) movie or movie in Line 2 2) “The Shack,”
-
I'll try this out Heena, and will give you my thoughts soon. Have you tried other test preparation services? I am doing well with Preped, Magoosh, and Kaplan. Still checking Princeton
-
How much can the Magoosh 7 day trial help me?
JohnKim replied to StrongTackleBacarySagna's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Trial Periods or free tests are provided to help us, GRE Takers, assess the practice tests they provide. If it would quite do well with our needs. I have been using the following because all of them provides some free tests and trial periods: 1) Preped 2) Kaplan 3) Magoosh 4) Princeton -
I'd like to hear thoughts of this as well!

Just saw this post on Quora: IELTS (International English Language Test System) and TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Both are English Language Tests to determine one’s ability to communicate in English. The major difference of both are as follows Style of English Exam - IELTS has different question types, ranging from fill in the gap, short answer and essays. TOEFL is more on multiple choices. Developer/Administration Council - TOEFL is administered by Education Testing service, a US-based organization that also handles SAT. On the other hand, IELTS is administered by British Council, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and IDP Education Australia. Language - IELTS is more likely British English while TOEFL is more on American English Hope this can answer your question.

Can someone help me understand how to do this GRE Quant Question?
JohnKim replied to shicode's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
Wow this is interesting. So TakeruK, there is no proper answer? I am still confused with your answer, I am very sorry. Newbie here, and I would like to be notified of the replies -
There is no guarantee if the questions will be "most common" in GRE. Based on my reading and a lot of practice tests, I haven't encountered a common questions. Magoosh, Preped, Kaplan and Princeton are just some of the test preparations I used.

You might want to check Magoosh' blog for that: https://magoosh.com/gre/2016/gre-scores-for-top-universities/
