  1. Agreed it's all about selling yourself. I've got excellent stats and I didn't get in the first couple times.... probably because I'm not really good at selling myself and I tend to be a little too uncertain and humble in my essays. Other undergrad friends of mine had more 'average' stats and got in on the first try. At the end of the day stats are boring numbers that don't tell the committee anything real about you. The only way to actually stand out from the crowd is building a compelling narrative about yourself. You've got so much going for you that I don't think you should have a hard time with that! Rely on what isn't average about you, and the proven history of success that you clearly have. You got this.
  2. Seconded on the hobby thing! While I was waiting, I worked on scanning all of my grandmother's pictures from the 1940s and starting to build an album. They're completely out of order and jammed together in a box, so it required a lot of attention, especially because I'm trying to build a coherent timeline of sorts. Project still isn't done, but I did get my acceptance. ? I also recommend spending as much time with supportive family and friends as you can, especially since grad school will be intense and you won't get the same time during it. Best of luck!
  3. Another thing -- sometimes program requirements are negotiable, depending on the contacts you've made in the departments. This isn't an in-field example, but a friend of mine didn't have the minimum GMAT score for the MBA program they wanted to attend. They discussed this with the dean and were able to impress him with their enthusiasm and knowledge enough to get the minimum requirement waived in their case. Another friend, who acted as a graduate admissions adviser also chided me for not establishing more contacts at my local university, making myself better-known among the committee members, and negotiating my first rejection. I kind of lack the confidence to do so, but I probably should have at least tried.
  4. Thanks! Yeah, that's what I figured... that's why I mentioned it
  5. Utah State has it too... I didn't find it terribly interesting or well-taught, but it wasn't super-difficult.
  6. Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear you were able to maintain your Q/V scores and improve your writing I think you definitely made the right choice. Best of luck on your applications!
  7. It depends on the state you're planning on working in. California has a fieldwork component that you'll have to complete through a school here... Loma Linda and CSUN both offer them.
  8. I just got my acceptance letter. We have until March 22nd to accept the offer, though I am planning on accepting. Good luck to those of you who are on the waitlist. ❤️
  9. I think it went well! I was nervous but not too bad... the interview was very straightforward and really focused on the things they said they would in the email. Fingers crossed... I'll send thank yous in the morning Tonight, I'm having ravioli and wine to celebrate having that out of the way, at least.
  10. You too!! Can I ask... how are you approaching the question about potential practicum sites? I only have one that I can say I can work at for sure... a lot of people have been on vacation and slow to respond to my asking if they allow interns.
  11. I also was contacted for an interview -- mine is tomorrow. They're doing them last week and this. I'm working on prep right now, and trying not to be nervous. ?
