  1. Facebook group for UMass Amherst: UMass SLP Class of 2020 https://www.facebook.com/groups/2096338073978382/
  2. Last time I wrote in here I was really struggling - waitlisted at all my schools and extremely discouraged. As time went on, I accepted the fact that everything happens for a reason and began to think of plans if I don't get in anywhere. Today, I found out that I made it off the waitlist at one of my top choice schools! I prayed and prayed on this. So to anyone that may see this and is having a hard time, what's meant to be will be! Don't get too discouraged, rather make other plans and the right ones will fall into place. "If plan A doesn't work, remember there are 25 other letters in the alphabet"
  3. Is there a page for UMass Amherst? Likely that I am going there and I am going to have to figure out living arrangements soon. Have no clue how else I would find a roommate...
  4. I was just accepted into UMass' Master's in Communication Disorders program, most likely going here. So excited. Time to start planning out where I am going to live?
  5. Saw that on my portal too. Nearly died when I saw July 1st! That’s insane. I’m starting to think of backup plans as well, I’ve almost lost all hope at this point.
  6. I applied for the Master's program in Communication Disorders, unfortunately I am on their waitlist right now but praying I will be taken off.
  7. Wow, I FEEL THIS!!!! So hard. It’s my spring break this week, I got two waitlists and one rejection, still waiting on two (Emerson being one, which has already sent out some acceptances so I assume I’m either waitlisted or rejected again). I feel so defeated. I thought I was in good standing, good GPA, average GRE scores (I think this is my downfall), tons of experience, great LORs, special education minor, strong personal statement. It is beyond frustrating getting waitlisted. I find myself asking “why aren’t I good enough?” constantly. Seeing others with weaker GPA/GRE scores getting into schools you were waitlisted at is also discouraging. We just gotta hang in there and hope we’ll hear from the waitlists. The waiting sucks but it’s all we can do right now. Keep your head up!
  8. Sorry for your rejection, but thanks for sharing and giving some hope to those on the waitlist with average GRE scores. Good luck with your other schools!
  9. 151/148/3.5 ... 3.76 GPA, lots of extracurricular, head positions in clubs and volunteer work. Internship at private speech practice. Felt as though I had a pretty good chance of getting in somewhere but I've been waitlisted everywhere so far (University of South Florida, UMASS Amherst) (rejected at MGH). Still waiting to hear from two others schools (Emerson, Bridgewater State) but I'm extremely disappointed/discouraged and forever kicking myself for not retaking the GRE. I had a professor tell me that my scores were fine and I would get in somewhere...now I'm freaking out. Congratulations on getting into grad school though, hoping my chance will come soon too.
  10. I go to Bridgewater now for COMD and I would prefer to go to a different school just to meet new professors and get different opinions, but it is my safety school so I guess I could fall back on that if I really wanted. No one has heard from Emerson yet, they are on spring break right now but I am hoping to hear back next week. I've heard some good things about UMASS' program and it is well priced compared to Emerson, hopefully we won't have to wait until April 15th. At least you've been accepted somewhere, I think that's what is scaring me the most is that I don't have any acceptances. Wishing I applied to more schools now but it was so expensive.
  11. Thank you! It’s just a lot more competitive than I expected. I noticed that about the GREs though. I applied to Emerson, MGH, University of South Florida, UMASS and Bridgewater State University. Interviewed at Emerson, waitlisted at USF (and now UMASS) and rejected from MGH (my reach school). Still waiting to hear back from Emerson and BSU. Emerson is my next choice, hoping to hear back from there. What about yourself?
  12. I got waitlisted too, burst out crying. This waiting game is so stressful, and so far I've been waitlisted everywhere. Beginning to get really nervous, especially because I had high hopes for UMASS.
  13. Thank you so much for the fast response! I keep refreshing everything. Fingers crossed.
  14. Congratulations! That makes me nervous that I still haven't heard back, did you know the program director personally? / Has the change been made on your SPIRE account? Really hoping to get in here.
  15. Emerson is on spring break this week, so I am hoping we will hear back early next week!
  16. To those accepted into MGH, would you mind sharing your GPA/GRE scores? I was rejected from there today.
  17. Let's hope! What program did you interview for? I am interested in going there too
  18. I am applying to Emerson College, MGH IHP, Bridgewater State U, UMass Amherst and University of South Florida. I am from Massachusetts! My biggest concern is my GRE scores... My GPA is good and I have plenty of experience and some research. Minor in Special Education which I hope will help my application...but to be totally honest, I have no idea where I stand in comparison to everyone else. This is truly a stressful and nerve-wracking experience. I just want answers!
  19. Just heard back from my first school - University of South Florida. I applied there "for fun," still a bummer that the very first school I hear back from is a waitlist. Waiting on UMass Amherst, MGH, Emerson and Bridgewater State. Interviewed at Emerson last week. This waiting is driving me crazy. Absolutely terrified I will be waitlisted everywhere, or worse...rejected. Just praying for the best. GPA: 3.76 GRE: 150 V, 148 quant, 3.5 AW Major: COMD | Minor: Special Education Applying to: UMass Amherst, Bridgewater State University, MGH IHP, Emerson College, University of South Florida Accepted Rejected Waitlisted
  20. Hi there... Starting a thread for Massachusetts SLP grad students that are waiting to hear back. Where have you applied? Where have you heard back from? What's your top choice/what's your safety school? I feel like I check my email every 10 minutes and am on this website constantly. The waiting is the worst part!
  21. Hi there - Hoping to revive this post for 2018 now. Anyone have any input on graduate school at UMass? I'm from Massachusetts and really associate it with being a big undergraduate school. Is there opportunities to meet other graduate students in different fields? And how is the social scene there... Not that I am expecting to have that much free time, but if I have to move out to Amherst I am going to need some socialization.
