  1. Yes but I hear back about internal awards that are University-specific in late March. I'm waiting on that; not CGS-M specifically.
  2. I currently hold two offers of admission (not at Ottawa sorry), and will be releasing one of these offers once I hear more about funding. So there is always a chance for those who get wait listed. Don't lose hope!
  3. They announce CGS-M results prior to the April 1 deadline?!
  4. Echoing my colleagues above: FINALLY a rejection from Queens. Sent via email I didn't interview.
  5. NEVER contact the POI--it might jeopardize your chances/it might be uncomfortable for the POI. Always contact the program admin/coordinator.
  6. Oh there's still hope then I got flat out rejected without an interview haha No email but I checked the portal and it said "decision-made: rejection." Good luck to you
  7. PM'd you
  8. Re: UManitoba. No email but I checked the online portal and decisions were made today. Congrats to all who got in!
  9. Forgot to mention that not only is it university specific, it's also idiosyncratic to each prof haha Some know earlier on in the year (as they have funding, have graduating students and hence space in the lab, etc.), others may not know until Sept/Oct. Again, your best bet is to directly email!
  10. It honestly seems to depend on the university. You can always email the specific profs to determine if they're taking students in the upcoming year. This serves 2 purposes: 1) You get an answer to your question (if they reply), and 2) the profs will actually know you/have connected with you prior to seeing your application. I emailed early around June-August, but most people email around September (this is a better idea as profs don't usually know if they will take students in June haha). Good luck
  11. You can accept your offer via email and cc your POI in said email.
  12. Oh totally! Post-doc is an excellent time to diversify @hlr20 I would discuss with your current mentors/supervisors what they think would be the best for you career-wise! Get their input on this if you haven't already.
  13. Depends--what are your long term career goals? If its academics, then they prefer that your undergrad + graduate training are from different institutions, in order to combat "academic inbreeding."
  14. Official offers of admission went out for URegina today
  15. Yes. That's basically how it works. The psych grad committee unofficially accepts you, and then your name get forwarded to the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) where you are approved and get an official offer. May take a while for the official offer/letters to roll out, depending on when FGS meets.
  16. (Not applying for school psych/I'm in Canada and applying to clinical psych, so take anything I say with a grain of salt ) I might also venture out and ask current graduate students about the program. Let them know you are very interested in the program, and have a couple of questions. It's often best (at least for clinical psych) to ask current grad students/since they're in the program, they can give you a pretty good idea I'm sure emailing the program coordinator to ask about how alumni do in terms of career paths/success rate of obtaining licensure, etc., would be useful as well (if the graduate handbook/manual doesn't state this already. Some even state where their graduates end up). Good luck!
  17. Hi, the majority of people do not get in right out of undergrad. Some take a year of to work, get a Masters degree, what have you. You SHOULD NOT feel pressure to start grad school right off the bat...most programs/POIs based on my experience, actually prefer people who take a year off (to re-channel your energy, mature a bit more, gain more experience, etc). I would say its an advantage for you if you take a couple years off to gain research experience/work. Do not feel compelled to start grad school right away--its an arduous and long process, everyone moves at their own pace. Congrats on your interviews! You got this
  18. Was just about to say I'm also in Canada, and I think its definitely different here. To reiterate, it doesn't matter which undergrad institution you graduated from--ranking doesn't seem to matter in Canada. Basically, an undergrad degree is supposed to be considered equal across institutions here. It's honestly for your graduate degrees that institutional ranking matters (especially if you pursue a career in academia after).
  19. Hey, so I spoke to grad students about this, as they are def a wonderful source of information/excellent mentors in the process. You can definitely negotiate if the amount is substantial. Remember, THEY WANT YOU RIGHT NOW, not the other way around. Given that your situation is a large discrepancy in funding, I would let them know "Hey, so I am VERY interested in your program, but currently, I have an offer at another school that is offering more funding. Is there any chance you can increase my funding?". Be honest. What I wouldn't do, is in my case, I am torn between School A and B, but the funding discrepancy is literally $1,000. That amount isn't something that should make or break your decision, therefore, I wouldn't even mention it in my scenario. It may be in the end, your POI offers some of their grant money to fund you, which is fine--you just need to let them know Good luck!
  20. Hey! Great question--so clinical psych ISN'T like medical school where you MUST take 5 courses every semester. I took 3 courses in my very first semester, and then five courses until this year (my 4th and final yr), where I took 3 and 4 courses. I'm been accepted into 2 clinical psych programs, and have never been questioned about my course load in any interviews. Hope this helps!
  21. I searched specifically for "yale" in the results page. https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=yale
  22. Right, but this week isn't over. You shouldn't fret because it's still Friday-- there's still today. I would NOT contact your POI directly when it comes to this; it will not come off well. Always contact the grad coordinator--wait for them to respond.
  23. Someone just posted above. Scroll up please (and also the previous page) ^^
  24. Oh huh, this is my undergrad uni so this kinda stings.... it doesn't suck THAT bad LOL
