What a day: rejected at Penn (not a surprise) but accepted to the University of Houston.

Yes!!!!! I’m visiting Duke now and it feels like this is the first time I’ve gotten to be really excited about it. Better late than never, I guess!

Hi friends! I've realized that I've been so focused on hearing back from all the schools I've applied to that I haven't truly celebrated my acceptances. Is anyone else in the same boat?
I would love to talk about how we are celebrating, and bring a little joy into our forum

I'm the USC acceptance! Not creative writing track, but the standard English Language & Literature Phd. Official stuff shouldn't have rolled out yet, I just received confirmation from POI who I had been in previous contact with. Don't sweat it if you haven't heard anything!

I wonder if this means English literature interviews/acceptances from NYU are going out soon...

OK I know I already got accepted into the school but I just got an email from one of the Big Names that I mentioned as a POI & I just needed to tell the internet for a second bc I might actually pass out tbh

Can confirm that Chicago has probably made most of its decisions. I just got an informal email from a POI telling me about this fellowship they're offering me and I confusedly asked whether that meant I was accepted! She said yes and added that she was surprised that the administrative gears were turning so slowly.
Anyway, I'm beyond excited and hope everyone will be released from this agony soon!!

Long time lurker here:) Just writing to claim the UChicago Comparative Literature acceptance on the board. Received an email from the head of the Admission Committee a couple of hours ago welcoming me to the program.
Excited as this is one of my top choices!

I got a letter from DGS saying that they have t been able to extend any fellowship offers! They did say that they hope to have aid available once funding comes through.

@pdh12 lol that was my rejection post--always think at least one person should post the form letter so future people can prepare themselves! But truly, I'm sure they get 500+ applicants, for 6-8 spots...wild! And those numerical odds don't even account for fit, or what the adcomms are hoping for that year.

Uncloaking to say one of those is mine. Thanks! It was my only solidly Literature program this round, and a long shot - I came to it via a pretty nontraditional path. But it's a good place for me and I'll likely say Yes.

Monique Allewaert's "Ariel's Ecology," or at least the introduction, is a resource for an ecocrit reading of The Tempest.

I got an admissions call from UM Columbia today and I AM STILL SHAKING! This program is tied for my top choice and I can hardly think.
The trouble is, they invited me to their admitted visit day, where CLAUDIA RANKINE will be reading, and they offered to help fund the trip. I've got time to decide and wait for the letter, but I know work will not allow me to take the time off. I'm planning a very large event for 1,000+ people for the same day and simply can't do anything about it. Is it appropriate to let the program know this and ask if I might schedule an alternate time to visit?
