Hello all! My name is Megan. I'm currently a 1st year student at MGH-IHP and I work for the Office of Enrollment Services. With COVID-19 affecting schools around the nation, including ours, we've been challenged to be a little more creative than usual. To that end, I've been asked to create "Why IHP?" resources. I already have a few ideas influenced by how I picked my attendance at the IHP, but I'd love to hear what you have to say! What questions do you have about MGH IHP? I'm currently attending the IHP and I would say you have really good chances! Knowing the teachers here though, of course grades are important, most of what they take into consideration when picking the class is your essay (especially the diversity essay) and the letters of rec. They really care about people and not numbers. Good luck!

I would personally retake it. I highly recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/GRE-Pocket-Reference-Kaplan/dp/1625234821 It really helped me understand math, which I'm not good at, in 3 weeks. If you give yourself some time to sit with these and nail the examples in the book, you can easily raise your score.

I'm not really sure about credits, because credits can vary depending on the school, but I took all of the ASHA prereqs in the past year. I know some grad schools let you do them while you're in the program, but I didn't see the point in putting them off and just did them as fast as I could.

How did you find the housing portal??

Hey! I'm from Reno, Nevada. I totally get the whole trying to find housing from the opposite coast struggle lol.

I am currently deciding where to grad school (you can see my choices in my signature), but I was a Voice Performance - Opera undergrad (soprano) from Westminster Choir College, and I’m now finishing up a second degree/post bacc in SLP. I've done a couple of open houses! Jeans can work as long as they look nice, no holes, and dress them up with cute shoes, a blouse, maybe a blazer, just to be dressier. Especially at this point. You're already in, don't stress about wearing a pants suit or something. You don't want to look overly stuffy either you know? Also, congrats on MHG! I won't be going to the open house because I went the same weekend I interviewed at BU, but I wish I could meet all my future class!

Finally someone started this thread!! ❤️ I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools...I don't know why though because this is probably my top choice and my parents keep saying "come on, we know that's where you'll be next year!" but it's all too real lol. Anyway, I'm pretty sure I will choose MGH

I was! I was surprised, honestly. Just because I felt that my interview went really well. But it's ok.

aaah that's a little disheartening. I would love to go, but it's so expensive.

How did the funding work for MGH? For people who got them, did they just tell you on the call right after they told you about your acceptance, or did you ask about it?
