Now that we've had a minute to process our decisions, anyone else getting hit with that good ole' impostor syndrome? 

Accepted off the Michigan waitlist! Beyond thrilled.

So now that I don't have to worry about waiting for news/making choices, my brain has moved on to its next fixation: possibly starting school in quarantine. I know it's too soon to know whether it'll happen and it's useless to worry, but it's tough! Anyone else dealing with this?

Got an email from BU's graduate school telling me they're moving visits online (duh) and to contact individual programs if they haven't reached out already. Um, I did that. It sort of annoys me that I'm being asked to reach out to them when the ball is in their court. I'm trying very hard to be understanding about the difficulties of the current situation, but it's...hard not to contrast this with UW's total 180 (in-person visit to zoom visit) in the span of literally 2 days.

Finally got my NYU rejection, with a baffling invitation to have my application considered for the MA in Irish and Irish-American studies. Strange because while I do love Joyce, Irish studies couldn’t be farther from my stated and demonstrated research interests...

I'm wondering if we'll see lopsided cohorts because of cancellations. If we do, it may affect next year's cycle if, for example, Chicago's cohort size increases from 9 to 18.

Wow— this was just as bad as USC forcing me to create a separate account on a different website just to download the rejection letter. 

As of last night, I have officially heard back from all of my schools! 3a/2w/11r/infinite exhaustion

Trying not be salty rn but the coordinator at UCLA got back to me and said that I, and everyone else still waiting, should have been rejected weeks ago but weren't due to a massive oversight ? Congrats to everyone admitted though and always good to have closure!

I thought the rejection from Penn was sweet as far as template rejections go, even if they didn’t notify of the decision!

NYU DGS Robert Young responded to me but said notifications go through GSAS centrally and that they don’t notify students directly. Based on last year I guess we have to wait until mid-March for the official rejections. 
 
No response from Maryland DGS Gershun Avilez. 

I asked my future advisor this very question. He said that I should use this time to read whatever I want that I felt might be useful in making me think more about what I'm interested in. Come with ideas and interests, basically, and they will help you with the actual training once August comes. 
I have however also asked for and received syllabi for classes I'm interested in, and also spend a lot of my spare time working on languages. 

Out at Harvard and Penn (totally expected)! But in at UC Santa Barbara! Which is wonderful (seriously, I love this program so much) and complicates my life substantially! The roller coaster continues! lol

I'm so sorry to hear that. I wish you the very best of luck on whatever comes next. 

And with that, my season is over. Thank god. 10 rejections, outted from all of my "dream" programs but one (Thank god x2). Its was crazy and nonsensical , and I'm grateful as hell. Time to decompress and breathe again. 

Penn rejection on my portal too - thank goodness all my waiting is over! (I'm not even counting the implied rejection from NYU because I have zero emotional investment in it.)

Am I the only one who thinks it's super rude not to notify rejected applicants by email? That seems really odd to me, but maybe it's just because I'm sitting from the position of an anxious applicant

I definitely met some people in the past who were accepted late off waitlists and arranged to come meet faculty and sit in on a class or two, even if they didn’t or couldn’t make it to the official visit!
