I received an official rejection from UCalgary for clinical psyc today, which I knew was coming as I did not advance to open house as well as my application was never forwarded to the PI I was hoping to work with (not core faculty). 
On the other hand - I received an offer of admission to the UCalgary SACP program last night, which I will be accepting and am very happy about! 

Hi everyone. I thought I'd reach out on here as I'm looking for some advice. I recently found out I was accepted to a counselling psychology program where I have an option to do a thesis. I also applied to 3 clinical programs but no success this year. My goal is to work as a psychologist and also perhaps in academia in the future. My conflict is whether I could continue into clinical psychology after this program or whether pursuing counselling psychology would close that door. I know that the work in counselling and clinical tends to overlap quite a bit, so I'm not sure if it's worth it to continue reapplying to clinical every year given how competitive it is. Apologizes if this is the wrong place for this, but I appreciate any insight or advice! Thank you.

Hi! Im wondering if anyone knows if potential supervisors can see our OGS proposals? I just got notified yesterday about applying to OGS by Monday for Ryerson and was planning on using the same proposal I used for my SSHRC but it doesn't really match my POIs work Im wondering if that's ok? Its in the same general area still just not directly related but im not sure id be able to make a strong new proposal in two days. If anyone has any insights its appreciated  

For anyone who applied to Lakehead:
I just received an email in my lakehead email inbox saying that my application is being reviewed by the admissions committee and that offers of admission could begin as early as Feb 15 and will continue until April 15 or until all seats are filled. 

I’m not sure if they have sent out any rejections, but might be worth checking your Lakehead email for the update!

I'm really surprised I haven't had any contact from my POI this whole season I just got an invite from the department for visiting day! Has this happened to anyone else not having contact with their POI then getting an invite to to interview day? Should I reach out and send a separate email to my POI saying thanks?
Also the visiting day time is the same time as one my interviews at another school and im not really sure what to do ?

Hey guys, I'm really excited to say that I just received an email invitation for interview day at Ryerson! I was afraid that all the invitations had already been sent out, but I guess not

I haven't yet received any information for a second clinical interview though, but I did interview really late in the process with my POI (late last week) so hopefully I will receive that information soon.

Who else dreads and anticipates Mondays? Here comes another week of watching. At least we get a break on the weekends lol.

An update for folks who have applied to Lakehead's clinical MA program: I spoke with their secretary recently, who said that the department is currently in the process of developing A, B, and C lists (top-tier, second-tier, do not admit). The A and B lists will be distributed to POIs the week of February 8th-12th. Applicants may be contacted with offers around this time (they do not have formal interviews, although your POI may or may not contact you to meet informally). If your proposed supervisor(s) is not able to supervise you, but they think you would be a good fit for the program, they will contact you about other potential supervisors you would be interested in working with. Offers will be sent out in small amounts at a time trickling down these lists until they have between 5-7 accepted offers. I just wanted to let everyone know that offers will likely be made from February until possibly April, so don't panic if people start receiving offers mid-February! Hope that helps give a little bit of clarity. Good luck!!

I find this question is definitely anxiety provoking as well- So it’s totally fair of to feel a little worry about it! But, I think the important part is that you’re answering honestly.  While we all might share similar experiences/desires to be in a clinical program, we all walk different paths! One persons rationale for wanting clinical may be something entirely different from another persons and that’s absolutely 100% okay:) I think the fact that you are worried about it just shows how much you’ve thought about it. We are all unique in our goals and you should just let that shine in your answer! I’ve heard so many times from interviews how they appreciate an honest answer rather than one that an applicant thinks they want to hear. 
it’s so easy to second guess yourself during this process, so just try to remember how hard you’ve worked:)

Bit of a panic. I think I'm just too nervous. I am scared I'm not answering "why I want to be a clinical pysychologist" in the right way..... can someone just let me know how my answer sounds (I can pm it).

Hey there! I’m not 100% sure on the answer but when I contacted the Graduate Program Administrator they said professors will be contacting students throughout January. That being said, I know some people have already been contacted for their second interview so I’m not sure where interviews are at overall. Sorry this wasn’t overly insightful, just wanted to share what I know

Hey guys! I just got an invite to interview for UPEI's Psyd program and was wondering if anyone on here goes there/ has interviewed and could dm me? The invite says "you should expect to be asked to demonstrate key competencies that are central to the discipline of clinical psychology, including responding to a short clinical vignette, and to scenarios about quantitative research, qualitative research, and diversity." If anyone has any insight on how to prepare for this id really appreciate it! I'm not sure what id be asked for responding to research scenarios?
