If you haven’t heard from Harvard BMS it’s too late :(

At least I got an interview at UCSF Tetrad! Does anyone know how many acceptances they extend to interviewees?

Me too for UCSF!! Super excited to meet everyone at the interview :) I went to the open house Tetrad held the week before the application was due and they said they interview 90 and accept 75!

Hey! I’m new here! I actually am a weird applicant: I was admitted into the Ohio State biomed grad program back in 2017 and had to leave after the grist year due to my mom being sick. So, here I am again restarting this whole thing and I was afraid I wouldn’t  even get a chance at an interview! I’ve gotten 5 so far! God is so good!

Here are my interview invites:

Mayo Clinic

University of Colorado-Denver

University of Alabama Birmingham

Vanderbilt IGP

University of Miami PIBS (interview done; invited for virtual visit)

Anyone have similar invites? How are you all preparing for the interviews?

Thanks! molecular and cell biology track. and yes I emailed the PI saying im interested in their research and would be grateful for the opportunity to talk about the program and their lab, they answered saying they would like to meet and discuss research.

That's great! Congrats! I also applied to UTSW and chose three programs of interest including the molecular and cell biology. I wonder when will their interview weekend be ? Do they ask you to choose like 3-5 professors you'd like to talk with?

Ive been shy to post my stats because theyre average and not so great but here they are:

undergraduate gpa: 2.84 ?

master/graduate gpa: 3.16 (still have one more course to go and im aiming for the A to lift the gpa a bit more)

research: 3 projects: two molecular oncology/cancer genetic related and one virology related (genotyping the coronavirus strains infecting a specific population of interest) (collectively 2 years)

publications: the two cancer related projects are pending and the virology project I got an acknowledgment in the paper bc i was just involved in the writing of the proposal and providing editing/ideas to manuscript

GRE scores: not important bc no program really requires it anymore

Im just really worried that this wont be enough to gain any school’s interest! Ugh

What schools would that include? And do they still have unmet deadlines? ? ive actually been trying to figure out what makes a school low/middle tier! Please if you know any schools suggest them to me! :)

There are several schools with later deadlines : Temple, Indiana Indianapolis, etc.

Thank you so much for the sources! I appreciate it! I applied to 8 schools already and unfortunately most of them were top tier reach schools (I didn’t pay attention to that when applying- I was more focused on research going on and ability to see myself fitting in certain labs). I really appreciate your suggestions, and hopefully I will hear back from atleast one school with good news and will look into maybe sending out a couple more applications to schools that are still taking apps
