Has anyone who didn’t receive an acceptance call had any kind of update or communication on official rejection?  I periodically check ApplyWeb. ?

I wonder that too, maybe if we get two people asking it more answers will come.

It looks like - historically - calls go out first and then within 3-5 business days, the notifications for those waitlisted or denied.  Typically the non-admit notifications are an email from admissions to check the portal. Saying that, there is a newish administration, so things may be slightly different this year.   I’m sure everyone will know fully by the end of the week

I’ll also add - whatever the outcome - for me, this has been a great learning experience and I’m glad I created this thread. Perhaps someone applying next cycle will find this this thread in a Google search (::wave::) and gather insight and/or learn more about different programs. Having this thread made the DSW application process less lonely and it is a great way to network! Annual gradcafe DSW threads FTW!

Hello everyone!

 

I am happy that I found this forum. I applied to UPENN as well. I have not gotten a call or other communication either way. I emailed them for an update last Thursday but I have not gotten a response to that email either..

Yes, I applied to Alabama but was not accepted. I also applied to Simmons. I interviewed on 4/2 and I think it went well. I was told during the interview that decisions would be made closer to the end of the month. It seems like they have done a lot of interviews.

Did you apply to other programs?

Not this cycle.  I may expand my search. Simmons and Bama are definitely on my radar because of their focus on clinical + leadership + teaching.

I know Simmons is still accepting applications for the September start date. My friend goes there and really likes the program.

@SWlove that’s great to hear! The curriculum looks promising. I think my hesitation was that it was so new.

I like the SC program, there are ups and downs as with anything, but it is a really good fit for my field of study being macro focused on improved outcomes for non college bound individuals leaving high school. I made a much better write up on it somewhere, I'll look for it when I get this final turned in.

The newness of SC's program is an unfortunate reality for me, direct effects are being worked out for the most part but it is not great to be around for the changes. I also don't find that they are stopping me from getting a good education and wouldn't think to have waited because of the growing pains of the program being only 4-5 years old. I have no idea how old Simmons is, but I would think that it could be an opportunity to help influence the direction the program goes moving forward... not that you wouldn't have enough to do as a student ?

Very good point! I believe Simmons is < 1 year old. I think they launched last fall? Simmons and USC both use 2U for their asynchronous platform.

This would be kind of a weird advantage that Simmons would have right now, the issue with SC for me is largely in the async being outdated because things change so quickly. I've heard issues with 2U locking schools into impossible contracts and not being easy to use and requires them to make good changes etc... but as far as the platform goes that I use it functions fine. I just don't want to keep having lectures from before so many seismic events took place and having the same bland delivery ?‍♂️

Very true! Especially since SC probably spent a lot of money to get these high quality recorded asynchronous sessions that are now possibly outdated. 
2U was first in offering LMS.... Unfortunately they definitely locked folks into bad contracts - USC, DU, etc. Now there is *actual* competition (noodle, canvas). I would be curious what the T&C of contracts are like these days.  Tulane uses Noodle, Columbia uses canvas.

I think my actual chances go down each day I don’t hear anything - knowing that many calls went out Thursday afternoon. Who knows though! ?

I know someone who was just accepted to USC's program and she is macro focused at well.

I wish I could try the other services, I have heard generally good things about canvas and know nothing about noodle but am super curious.
