Don't trust rumors. I called Yale playwriting. No one has been notified yet of interviews. This won't happen until March. Latest March 9th.

Thanks for doing that. Seems quite odd that a person would either a.) lie that they got a call for interview or b.) lie about hearing from a friend who says they got a call for an interview. Either way, I’ll take horse’s mouth and appreciate you calling.

Had my interview with Northwestern, it was very short - about 13 minutes. For anyone who interviews in the future, they asked me I think 3 questions - (paraphrasing) who I am as a writer, what inspired me to write my writing sample, what piece of writing lately has inspired me. Then I got to ask a few questions. They said they would make decisions soon after interviewing all finalists. I agree with the previous poster who interviewed at Northwestern a few years ago - I left the interview feeling unconfident about my chances.

For anyone who applied to CSU-LA, they contacted their finalists for interviews today.

Anyone else heard any news? It's so quiet - I feel like by March there's usually more info.

alas, i was hoping to have the strength to remain silent and lurk, but i also applied to hunter...

by scheduling do you mean you've already received an email requesting an interview?

I’m sorry, I should have been less vague. Yes. But it was very recently sent.

I got an email from Arizona State today saying I was accepted. I didn't get interviewed or anything beforehand! They said I'll hear about potential TA-ship/funding by the end of the month.

No word from Northwestern since my interview, so I'm guessing I wasn't accepted there.

That’s great! I did my undergrad at Arizona State and have fond memories. Congrats!

Was there anything said in the email that would lead you to think all the other acceptance letters were sent?

@LordQuas Hmm...I really can't tell either way. It was a personal email from a professor telling me I'd been accepted and some next steps for me, no info on anyone else accepted. I don't know how many people get accepted into the program - do you know if they have a big yearly cohort or is it small? Sorry I can't help more.

@TBA1982 Were you in the ASU theater department as an undergrad? If so, what was your experience like? Did you interact with grad students much? Do you have an idea of how many dramatic writing grad students there are?

I have applied to NYU, UCLA, Fordham, Columbia, and Yale.  I have only received a rejection from Yale in mid-February stating they only accept three applicants.  Anyone hear from NYU?

@Zebras4Ever I studied acting as an undergrad 2002-2008. My interaction with grad students was limited to production or in upper-level theatre elective courses. I don't remember how many playwriting students there were. A handful, not many. The professors I worked with were very generous and supportive. I'm still friends with several of them to this day. Tempe is a vibrant place and has only grown since I left. Also, ASU is an enormous university with over 70K enrolled.

@LordQuas No worries, I know the feeling. So far itʻs where Iʻve been accepted, so Iʻm pretty sure Iʻll go (gotta figure out funding, etc.). If I get in someplace else, Iʻll have to decide which program is best for me. Iʻm still waiting to hear from some schools, so itʻs up in the air for the next few weeks. I donʻt know how many students ASU accepted this year, but I talked to a current student who said itʻs usually 1-3, so there might be someone else accepted who doesnʻt end up going.
