Hey! Anyone know where I could find updated information on subfield rankings?

Expand

On a related note: This sounds like it should be basic but I’m not sure how to determine the subfield rankings of schools below #10? I saw a thread saying that until #15 or 20 should be “if you have to ask if they are, they aren’t” but I’m not sure if this is great advice to someone like me who tends to second guess everything.

Question for the UT Austin people: outside of the DGS did you receive emails from professors not mentioned in your SOP?

Expand

Yeah, I received emails from two professors not mentioned in my SOP and emails from one professor mentioned in my SOP. Makes me think I did a bad job selecting professors for my SOP...haha

Anyone has received offers from Illinois, UC Riverside, Texas at Austin, Texas A and M, Maryland, Colorado, Penn State, Florida State?

I think most programs that you mentioned sent out some acceptances several weeks ago. So, I think it is legitimate to ask the graduate coordinators of each program.

How would you recommend asking the graduate coordinator about this? Should you let on that you know that acceptances have been sent out, and that you're just wondering about your application?

I only applied to one school that he mentioned. I personally asked the graduate coordinator about the status of my application. I think you made a bold assumption. How can I know whether Victor xu will release some information on this thread again?

I was just asking how you would phrase the question to the graduate coordination. Because you stated that it is "legitimate to ask the graduate coordinations of each program" at this point, I was just curious as to how you would go about doing so. I'm not sure what's "bold" about that.

UIUC. Do you know we can search results on the results page? Here is the page address. https://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=political&t=a&o=&pp=25

Although you find that some acceptances already sent out, you cannot figure out the status of your application. Maybe you are in their unofficial waitlists, or they have been still deliberating. It is also possible that they have not sent out rejections. So, in order to know the exact status of your application, you should ask to someone who has exact information.

Oh, I completely misinterpreted your posting. Sorry about that. I would just simply ask about the status of my application.

No worries! I wasn't sure if I misread your initial comment, either. Thanks.

May I ask when did u receive the offer from Colorado? I have not received any information from it, does it mean that I am out ? thanks

They sent out a waive around the first. In the past I believe they have staggered acceptances so I think you still have a shot.

thanks for your reply. does every university have the same rule or does this situation only happen in Colorado? thanks. I apply for 15 but only receive 3 results( all rejection). very nervous now, seems to fail at all universities.
