  1. I'm really trying not to stress out! I'm so ready to leave St. Louis and get started on this last leg of school for me! It's getting tiring when the work you do is someone else's baby and have no say or feel like you're not appreciated on the project!
  2. There's another Rutgers interview where the student is on the shortlist? Who are you!?!? Lol. Congratulations! Can't wait to hear the good news!
  3. Anyone want to claim the FSU & Irvine acceptance?!?!? Congratulations!
  4. Yeah. Usually when its toward the end January, acceptances/interviews become more frequent. The high volume goes into maybe late February/early March. By that time, it's campus visit time where some students have accepted an offer to their "dream school" or in Notre Dame's case, it when they send out acceptances that were based on campus visits. It's nerve wracking especially having an ideal timeline of when things pick up.
  5. Historically, the next few days (the next week or so) is when a high volume of decisions come in. I'm itching for Stanford results to come in because they come out this weekend..theoretically. Penn State has been quiet and so has UPenn!
  6. Also, congrats on the UIUC acceptance. Anyone care to claim it? Plus two more Chicago interviews! It's going slow, but it's starting!
  7. Haha. I understand the feeling! I'm using in-between project breaks to check on things.
  8. Congrats to the two UCSF interviews! Anyone claiming them? Also, a big high five for the UCLA admit! lookinforward to hearing from you guys!
  9. Anyone claiming the Irvine "touching base" result. Lol. I'm pretty sure others who applied would love to hear what's going on!
  10. Congrats! I think most of us are biting our nails since acceptances and interviews have been going out the last week or so!
  11. It's hard to tell/pinpoint an exact "date" when interviews are sent out. Depending on the school, since adcomms change yearly, sometimes they would do all interview requests in one batch and then make you wait. Or in some cases, they'll do acceptances in waves depending who's been interviewed and who they decide to admit from that "wave." It does get nervewracking. But from experience, a lot of schools will tell you by the end of January/early February if you're accepted or not. Again, it's variable these days that even though we expect them to contact us during a specific time, they won't. I remember last year (from following the 2017 thread), the east coast winter hoopla didn't stop schools from contacting while some were delayed.
  12. I feel your pain! I remember doing the Common Application when I was applying to undergrad. However, I don't think there's a centralized way to do it. I know (in the US) some disciplines like Public Health has SOPHAS, Health Administration has MHASA, then Dental & Medical Schools HAVE the ADSA/AMA centralized application system. I agree with @GreenEyedTrombonist that you need to figure out your personal way of managing these things. From what my recommenders have done, they pretty much wrote a general LOR that talks about everything. They just asked me to send them CV so that they update their letters from the last time they submitted it.
  13. Hey @gradanth I have background in Anthro. from when I applied a couple years ago, my undergrad advisor said be succint. Only describe how your experience contributed to your decision to attend graduate school. You don't need to include everything from the CV - just include what you think is important. As for citing, you shouldn't be citing references. The SOP is all about telling the adcomms what motivated you, what you plan to do, and how the program will help you. Give them a brief overview of what you want to do for your thesis/dissertation. Let me know if you have more questions!
  14. I don't think it would matter too much. I think you might just need to do a thesis. However, there are specific rural sociology programs (i.e. Penn State & Cornell's is housed under the Dept. of Development Sociology) that is somewhat separate from the Sociology department. Check them out here: Cornell Penn State
  15. I'm so jealous! I'm so scared for UPenn. In my mind, I thought the UPenn and Penn State is the perfect program for me, but I'm seriously freaking about so many things that could go wrong!!!!! Also, there's one new interview from UChicago and another South Carolina acceptance! Who are the lucky ducks!?!?! Lol. Congrats and we look forward to hearing from you guys
  16. UC's, if I'm not mistaken, don't release results together. Each school's departments are independent and do it based on their timeline. You can check out the results page. If not, can someone who's familiar enlighten us!
  17. Hey @abenz Yes, MLK day is considered a holiday. Usually the spring semester starts the Tuesday immediately following it. So it will be a crazy next few weeks!
  18. @qeta We're like a mini on these forums! It's been a long and arduous process in finishing applications and the next two weeks will be the scariest! We got this!
  19. Two Interview invites from ND & an acceptance from South Carolina! Who are you lucky ducks?
  20. Had to read it. VERY SPOT ON! I need a life and stop worrying, but damn! I CAN'T UNSEE WHAT I'VE SEEN. FOR REAL!
