  1. Not sure if this is the right place for this post but here goes... So by April 15th, and I had not heard from all of the schools I applied to but one of my acceptances was to one of my top choices so I told them of my intent to enroll. Fast forward to now and I recently heard from one of the other schools I was waiting on. They have offered me a 3 years support which includes a stipend and tuition waiver. The first school offered me nothing, but my POI was willing to bring me on as a Research Assistant. My dilemma is how to tell School 1 that I no longer plan to enroll? Earlier on my POI and I both had a very candid conversation about the lack of funding at the institution so I know (or least I hope) that she will understand the amazing opportunity that I have been offered. Would it be okay to call her personally and inform her of this? Obviously, I would make my official notice to the program director and school via email, but I feel that it would be respectful to reach out to her personally since she has already done so much to help me and we have a rapport. Lastly, would it be improper to ask POI if any funding opportunities are on the horizon that would make attending School 1 over School 2 viable? I really like School 1, but I already have debt from my Master's degree so I can't imagine taking on an additional $50K+. Help!

  3. Did you end up deciding on FIU? Do you mind sharing what your funding package looked like?
  4. I just asked for an update was told that they are still reviewing my application......
  5. Wow! 8 years is a lot. I don't think you would need more than that to apply, but what do I know I had contacted a professor I was interested in working with before I applied and I felt like we had a good connection. I asked about how the admission decision was made/how I could improve and I got the following blanket statement: "Please note that your application was carefully reviewed by a faculty admissions committee. Due to the large number of applicants, it is essential for the faculty committee to select the most qualified students with the best possible faculty match for maximum success in the doctoral degree. The decisions are final for this admission cycle. However you are welcome to appeal the decision for Fall 2019 with an updated resume and personal statement, and we will add your appeal to the applicant pool for Fall 2019 to be reviewed by the faculty admissions committee." That does not really tell me a whole lot. Maybe my personal statement needs fine-tuning(?), though I thought I was very concise and specific regarding my interests.
  6. I applied to USF and was rejected. MPH and 6.5 years of public health experience. Idk what they wanted! lol Per the website DrPH students aren't eligible for doctoral fellowships, but they are eligible for various school scholarships.
  7. Has anyone heard anything from LOUISIANA STATE (LSUHSC - Community Health Sciences) or FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (FIU - Health Promotion and Disease Prevention)????
  8. @Eris2018 @Ebou @drphhopeful Just received my rejection from USF. Good luck!
  9. Thanks! I was admitted to the Health Management and Policy department. I'm a "reapplicant"(?) and talked with the program manager before I applied on how I could be more successful. No funding though (boo!) *sigh* I don't understand how they make us submit waaaay before everyone else and still can't make admissions decisions over FOUR months later >:-| There was a deadline for the FAFSA!?!? The Associate Director for Fin. Aid just said I need to have the FAFSA in at least 4 weeks before I plan to begin courses.
  10. Just got an email from Drexel that an admissions decisions had been made. Logged into the online portal and I was accepted. No financial aid info at this time.
  11. Good luck! What this for the DrPH program?
  12. I completely forgot about the interview piece. Not looking forward to the cold, but my sister is doing her PhD in clinical psych there so an acceptance would be extra special. I had emailed the program manager at the end of January and she said "I hope to have updates [for you] by the end of February or early March." It's early March already; put us out of our misery!!!
  13. All quiet on the western/all front(s)? What are the schools everyone is still waiting on? Drexel; USF; LSU (PhD); FIU (PhD); Berkeley; University of Texas; UNC; GWU (Health Policy); Tulane Waiting Rejected Waitlist Accepted
  14. Same here. Not unexpected since @NotSoPatientlyWaiting2018 heard back weeks ago.
  15. Has anyone applied to either LSU - NOLA (Community Health Sciences) or FIU (Health Promotion and Disease Prevention) PhD programs?
