  1. I am also interested in which schools have poor reputations for grade inflation. OP, I was in the same boat as you... low gpa (psych major). I have one last class to go before I complete my 2nd BA and I've managed to get As in all of my CSD courses. I opted for a second BA because I wanted to show that I've grown academically. My cum GPA will be a whooping 3.1 once I'm finished. I suppose there is no guarantee that going this route will ensure me a seat in graduate school but I would regret it if I didn't give it it a shot.
  2. Who was your professor? I struggle with Math and have already taken stats twice about 7+ years ago.
  3. I've heard Chemistry @ ENMU is a breeze. I took physics with Andersen at ENMU and even though the lab directions where kind of confusing sometimes he grades SUPER easy. There are also no exams or quizzes. Only labs and simple reading assignments that consist of a few one sentence answers. For one class there it's usually around $800.
  4. SLPA is my back up plan or occupational therapy
  5. I'm also wary to apply to those programs from the cost. I heard through the grapevine that Emerson ended up being closer to 120k than 70k. Although, this student had to take a bunch of pre requistes. She wasn't aware of the cost until it was too late! Make sure you know the exact cost of tuition before you accept anything. Good luck!
  6. Good luck! I thought they would have notified you by now. Hopefully soon!
  7. Apply as a non-degree seeking student first
  8. Thanks! That's great to hear and I think we are in the same state (CA) according to your profile info.
  9. Maybe it is the same professor
  10. Yes, I have the syllabi for both those classes. I took it with Malinda Howard. PM your email and I'll send it to you.
  11. Thanks for the insight into the program it's nice to know that there are people from all backgrounds in the program. My only concern is that the program is currently an Accreditation Candidate. I have been told that you can still get fully licensed but there is a bit more paperwork involved and you have to prove yours hours. Is this something you were worried about or is it a non issue?
  12. I think a 290 might be doable as long as I study hard for it. Their enrollment advisor said I won't be disqualified if my ASHA pre reqs are more than 5 years old but if I got a C in one of them that might pose a problem. Most programs don't this requirement. I suppose I might suck it up and take stats for the third time. I hope you hear from them soon!
  13. That's great that you have a place lined up! I hope you get in. I'm not aware of any other ones. The other option is a 2 year SLPA degree.
  14. Yeah, one of the programs I wanted to apply to is stating that they prefer the ASHA pre reqs be less than 5 years old. This was the University of St Augustine, they said it wouldn't disqualify my application but a C in any of those pre reqs would not be good. I really DON'T want to take stats for the 3rd time but I'm considering it.
  15. Personally, I would go with whichever program would leave me with the least amount of student loan debt.
  16. No, I haven't applied but I do plan on applying for the Winter quarter. I hope you get in! I'll make sure to remember to login exactly at midnight. Do you have a lead on any supervisor placements? How long do you have to wait before you find out if you got into the SLPA program?
  17. what is their recommended GRE score? Did anyone get a C in any of their ASHA pre reqs and get accepted to this program?
  18. Awesome. How did you like the fieldwork program at LLU? I’m hoping that I’m able to secure a placement. How many weeks are the summer sessions? I would have to bring my kids along. Luckily I have family in the area.
  19. Reddit and IG has a SLP student community.
  20. ENMU is affordable. Easy class, take it with Hall instead of Lingnau if you have a choice. Lingnau is good too but I prefer Hall.
  21. I heard the same things about Dr Martins class at ENMU. I’ve heard that he is nice professor but his quizzes doesn’t coincide with the chapters you are assigned. He is not responsive. Although a new professor Lacey Plummer is teaching the 8 week session. I opted to take speech science with her. After 2 weeks she decided to cancel all quizzes and homework because she doesn’t like busy work. All we have to do now is a final and 3 labs due at the end of the semester. She opened up the rest of the modules and everything is self paced If you see that Plummer is teaching Speech Science at ENMU. Enroll! The 2 quizzes I did take were super easy. I think it will be an easy A if she keeps the same format for future classes.
