  1. Anyone know if Georgia State has extended all invites? I saw one back on the 4th, but never saw another.
  2. For the person that posted the Northeastern invite, who did the email come from? If it was your POI, would you allow me to email you my POI and confirm whether they are the same?
  3. I had a similar situation this cycle. When I received an invitation, I assumed it was with a certain POI at the university (I had named 3). Upon closer inspection of the email, I realized that only 1 of the POIs I mentioned in my statement of purpose was copied on the email and it was not the one I expected. I'm not exactly sure how you would couch the question. I can tell you that in a past cycle as the interview date drew closer I was informed which POIs I would be meeting with individually. Hope that helps. Congratulations and good luck!
  4. I see on the results page that an interview invitation went out to someone on Jan 7th. Don't know if they are still going out or not. Good luck!
  5. Same with Georgia State University Counseling Psych.
  6. I saw one invite for University of Maryland College Park Counseling Psych go out last week. Anyone know if all of the invites have been extended?
  7. What I have seen and what I have heard on the SDN forums is that the impact of having a practice-oriented masters degree will be negative to negligible for clinical psychology programs and negligible to extremely positive for counseling psychology programs. In fact, some counseling psychology programs require a masters degree for admission.

  9. For UMass Boston are you asking about Clinical or Counseling?
  10. Would the person who received an invitation from Georgia State say whether it was a mass email? And if you wouldn't mind sending your POI initials by direct message... Thanks.
  11. I have interest in both counseling and clinical psychology programs. The attraction to counseling psychology will differ for everyone, I think. I am interested in counseling psychology because of the strengths based approach to helping clients, the focus on multicultural competency (both in practice and research), and the embedded goal of facilitating social justice. That said, many of my research and practice interests are more typical of clinical programs (e.g., neurodegenerative disorders, traumatic brain injury, and treatment outcomes with forensic/correctional populations). The one downside I have heard reported about having a counseling psychology degree is that it can be difficult to secure neuropsychology internships because decision makers have preconceived notions about backgrounds. What I have noticed on my own is that you often see psychologists with clinical degrees on counseling psychology faculties, but rarely see psychologists with counseling psychology degrees on clinical psychology faculties. Of course this is my availability heuristic. There are many more clinical programs out there, so if your aim is to be a professor a clinical psychology degree opens more doors if what I've seen holds true.
  12. I would feel compelled to do so regardless of what the actual protocol may be.
  13. I think it was a mass email. it had my name on it, but the rest was general. Good luck!

  15. Actually, people decline interviews all the time. Usually due to scheduling conflicts.
  16. Don't know about Boston College, but from what I've seen from previous years UMass Boston's invites usually go out at the end of January.
  17. Congratulations! I'm currently finishing the masters program at Southern Miss. I don't really have any insight as to when to respond. I'm generally horrible with stuff like that. I can tell you that the Ph.D. program is very solid. Good luck on your interview!
  18. New to this format. Wasn't sure I was actually posting in the right place and whether people actually split by specialization. Not trying to be a smartass, just a newbie.
  19. I received an invite from University of Houston Counseling Psychology as well. Super excited!
