NYC Grad Applicants Fall 2018
slpinthemaking12 replied to slpgirl898's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi! I was accepted today and I interviewed 3/2. I think they're doing it on a rolling basis. When I interviewed they said we could hear anytime after 3/26. -
I was accepted to Adelphi (2/17), Touro (2/20) and St. John's (3/13). I interviewed at CUNY Brooklyn and CUNY Queens earlier this month, but I've yet to receive a final response from either school. I was rejected from CUNY Hunter today (3/16). Hunter was my top school so I was hoping for the chance to interview before I was rejected...

Hi! I submitted my application 1/03, but my last letter of recommendation wasn't in until 1/15. I heard back 2/17. I think they're doing it in waves. A friend of mine applied mid-December and found out she was accepted in the beginning of February. Good luck! -

I don't know if a list of in person programs exists, but I do know that CUNY Lehman College offers both fall and spring admissions on campus. -
NYC Grad Applicants Fall 2018

Hi! I'm applying to all schools in the NYC area as well- I'm applying to Brooklyn College, Hunter College, Queens College, St. John's, Adelphi, and Touro College. I'm very nervous that my GRE quantitative score will disqualify me from the programs. I honestly didn't have the money to retake it and now I'm kind of regretting it... -

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with a personal statement prompt that asks you to indicate your reasons for undertaking graduate study, outline plans for the future, and identify your strengths and weaknesses as a future SLP. I had no issue with the rest of the prompt, but I'm having trouble addressing the weaknesses. How do I address weaknesses without sounding like I'm essentially disqualifying myself from the program? A friend of mine who is applying to the same program has a sibling that is an SLP and they told her not to discuss weaknesses unless absolutely necessary. Should I listen to this advice? Thank you in advance!

Coming up with list of schools to apply to
slpinthemaking12 replied to KaileySLP's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Look on the ASHA EdFind website and look at the average GPA/GRE score that each school takes. Good luck! -
Oh no, I hope everything works out for you! If she said yes then it seems like she's probably waiting until the last second to submit it. If she doesn't submit it by tomorrow afternoon, I would recommend emailing her again for sure.

I'm glad it wound up working out for you! I guess I'll remember to intermittently remind my professors before all of my apps after due.

That's a good idea. I'll probably give a due date a month ahead of when its due then ask approximately when they can submit it.

Hi everyone, I'm currently working on finalizing my personal statement and resume to send to professors that agreed to write me a LOR. Last semester I took two classes with a professor that agreed to write me a LOR because I got an A in each class. How do I remind him to write me the LORs without sounding annoying or pushy? I would rather send him an email than randomly show up during his office hours. Thank you in advance!
