Thank You Notes/Gifts for recommenders
SLPLiz replied to gradschool18's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I personally wrote thank you notes by hand. I think a gift may be too much, but I'm sure anything will be appreciated! -
@lbh33 I really like UNT and they sent me a lot of information to answer my questions since I wasn’t able to attend the open house. Plus it’s really affordable compared to a lot of other schools. I’m still waiting to hear from another school, but April 15 is approaching quickly so I tentatively think I’ll be at UNT in the fall.

Still Waiting For Decisions
SLPLiz replied to Allison0302's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm still waiting on UTD, but I assume that we are on some type of waitlist. -

I assume that since we haven’t heard on way or another we are on an unofficial waitlist. -
Hello! I hate to comment on an old post, but I wasn't having any luck when I started a new post. I am pretty sure I will be moving to Denton in August. I was wondering if anyone has any advice for good 1 bedrooms. Are there any areas I should avoid or terrible apartments that I should avoid? Good places you have enjoyed living? Thanks in advance!

I believe that this year will be their first year with an accredited program. This summer on ASHA ed find the only accredited San Antonio school was OLLU and UTSA was added in August.

I've been accepted to a few schools so far. One is where I did my undergrad, and the other two are OLLU and UNT. I like all of the schools for different reasons. OLLU and UNT are closer to home, but I'm not sure how to pick the right one. OLLU doesn't do research, but I'm not sure if that is even something I want to continue doing in my graduate program. Does anyone have any advice or know something about these programs that may help me make a choice?

Questions for a current grad student!
SLPLiz replied to AlwaysaFalcon's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
@AlwaysaFalcon How did you pick which program to attend? I've been accepted to a few different schools and there's things I like about all of them. I'm a little overwhelmed.- 46 replies

Mine still says awaiting documents too. No news is good news right? -
I've seen people get into programs that I have applied to, but I try not to worry because I know some schools do rolling admissions and some do waves. Acceptances are sent out even after April so try not to stress too much..even though I know that's basically impossible.

Emailing for an application status update
SLPLiz replied to hopefulslp1's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I've emailed a school asking and I don' think anything is wrong with that. I just introduced myself and said something like I know you get a lot of applicants, but I was wondering when I might be able to expect a decision. -

@L123 I saw on the results page that someone received a rejection via the portal, but other than that I have only heard of acceptances. -

I emailed Dr. Stillman and he said that I should hear something this week so they might be getting close to finishing. -

@QuickLikeA if you go to the results there will be a little red diamond next to some of the "accepted via email" areas of the people who posted the results and if you hover your mouse over it you can see their gpa and gre scores. I hope that makes sense! -

I'm glad we all obsessively check our email and it's not just me! My GPA and GRE scores and right in the same area as the other acceptances so I'm just hoping to hear something soon. I looked at the results from last year on here and starting about mid march people started to say that they checked the portal and it said they were rejected. So I think we still have time! -
@lbh33 I'll let you know if I hear anything. Thanks for the reply!

Hello everyone! Has anyone else applied to University of North Texas? My portal has said defer decision on application status since I submitted my application nearly. Does anyone know what that means?

I have an interview too! I know the program doesn't have any research, it is all clinically based. I went on a tour back in November and I was told that the timeline for you clinical placement (i.e in their clinic or in the community) and how many clients you have each semester is done on a student by student basis based on abilities. Other than that it seemed pretty similar to other programs. -
