After graduating with my undergrad, I immediately applied for grad school I didn't get in and was devastated. I decided to become an SLPA and gain work experience. Many SLPAs at the private practice where I work have tried really hard to get into grad school, some have tried for 5+ years. When I applied this round my supervisor told me she recently wrote over 4 LOR for other people and they didn't get in. I felt defeated from the moment I started applying and not to mention my GRE scores didn't match my studying. Fast forward to a few weeks after I applied to my last school...I got an email that I got in. The pressure is over! Congrats to everyone!

Community college program for pre-reqs?
Toya replied to Driele's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi, Yes, I took courses at San Joaquin Delta in CA. I took 3 classes including intro to comd, speech-language and hearing science and another one that I can't remember. Anyway, they were all online as well! -
Thank you! Well, my stats are not competitive so I had to look outside of CA. My CD gpa 3.5 and a 2.9 cumulative GPA! Terrible.

You applied to all the CSU schools! That's awesome. I was too afraid I wouldn't get in and now I wish I had applied to more

Hi, I applied to ENMU and I haven't heard back yet.
-
Wow, I never thought about a school accepting an out of state student over an in-state because it's more profitable to them.

I personally would choose clinic A. I would prefer to just 'jump right in it' versus prolonging the unknown.

Hi everyone, I had a few questions for individuals in the program or recently accepted (as you may know the answer as well). 1. Emerson said the program could be completed in less than 20 months. Is this true or were you required to take additional prerequisites that pushed your completion date back? 2. How do scholarships work? Any info would be appreciated. 3. Placement- Was it any difficulty in finding placements and if so, what were they? 4. In general, what time of day are most classes held? I am hoping to take late evening classes, but I am in CA, so my late evening ( 5-6pm) is really late in Boston. 5. Please just tell me anything else about the program to help me decide between Emerson and NAU. THANK YOU!

I also read the specific places of employment included federal jobs and at low-income schools. However, you must be employed for a certain amount of time.

It says the info in your signature, lol. If you only want online schools then try Emerson as well. -
HELP! ASHA Prerequisite basic science requirements
Toya replied to Sweetroll's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I am not sure if I will be much help, but I believe CSUSM meant additional courses weren't required for your BA/BS degree. However, for grad school, ASHA did change the requirements ( as you posted ). Even though it says beginning 2020, every program I applied to had already implemented it. I took Bio and physics online through a junior college in CA. I had really easy professors in both classes so it was very easy....too easy! Is your app still being considered at the school that emailed you? Hopefully, it is because you can always just take the two classes you needed. -
Hi, I am from SoCal and applied to two SoCal schools, Biola and Loma Linda. I wish I applied to more but my stats are not good so I didn't see the use. However, I applied to 5+ schools out of state (mostly online).

They sent decisions out really early, but it's still a possibility! Don't lose hope just yet. -
This is extremely helpful...thank you!

Yes, I applied to several schools just hoping for one. Now that I've been accepted I am stressing about finances. Can I really afford this? What will I tell my full-time job? How will I pay my car note?! Sure, I can take out more loans but how much will my loan payment be and will I be able to afford that...Man...to say I am stressed is an understatement.
