  1. Yes, I just attended a CEU with a fluency specialist and ~35 percent of her utterances was disfluent. We are not robots! I have disfluent moments or mispronounced words as well. When it happens I self-correct and tell my client ( I am an SLPA) or parent that we all make mistakes and the purpose of speech isn't to be"perfect". Parents love this and they tell me the words they cannot say, lol. It allows me to connect with parents more and limit the hierarchy.
  2. Hi, out of curiosity, are you attending a part-time or full-time program?
  3. ENMU is my top choice (It's the cheapest school I applied to) and I was waitlisted, however, I have two co-workers that also applied and were accepted this past week. If you ladies ( and/or gents) make a facebook let me know and I'll tell them. Congrats!
  4. Hello! Sorry, I am not a current grad student but noticed you applied to competitive SoCal schools...and got in! Do you mind sharing your stats?
  5. Same here. ENMU was my first choice due to cost.
  6. Really?! I was going to apply and then the last minute I decided not to because of my GPA. Congrats!
  7. No, they were just waiting. No previous communication about their status.
  8. I know someone that just found out by email yesterday that they were accepted... it's still hope!
  9. I only know about ASHA EdFind. While you are on the website look pull up California State University, Los Angeles ( my undergrad university) and you will see in 2018 the lowest GPA they accepted was 3.65. Now, look at the University of South Carolina, You will see they accepted someone with a 2.8. Overall, most programs accepted students with lower GPA because they are looking at the whole picture ( GRE, resume, SOL, LOrs) etc) while others ( CSULA) only care about GRE/GPA. I also looked at schools with a higher acceptance rate, 40-60%. I didn't do any research in the field before applying.
  10. Have you called them? If so, what did they say?
  11. I have a 2.98 CGPA and ~3.49 in the field. I've been an SLPA for 3 years along with tons of work experience. In my SOI I talked about my GPA and sort of "explained it". I mentioned my CGPA is from 11 years of going to school part-time and my COMD GPA is from working over 50 hours a week while in school full time. I explained my GPA because I didn't want them to assume anything. I also really explained my passion for this field and that I am fluent in American Sign Langauge. My LORs came from my supervisors in the field and their letters were phenomenal! I would tell you to apply to as many schools as you can and remember ALL YOU NEED IS ONE!
  12. I am waiting for ENMU as well. They started interviewing last week
  13. I agree. I would thank them for their offer and let them know you are still interested in the program but would like a few days or a week or so to think about their offer further.
  14. Hi @Cierra, Congrats as well! I've been looking on campus too and some of the apts are called the Skyview and another is called the hilltop. I saw some off-campus apts that are much cheaper ($700 /month) but they are not furnished and everything I take to Arizona has to be able to fit in my car. We can definitely start looking together for housing.
  15. I am not familiar with any of those programs in particular but I would write a pros/cons list including cost, pros/cons within each program, length of the program, where you would live, transportation etc.
  16. I was thinking the same thing. We have until April 15 to accept their offer.
  17. Hi everyone, I am accepting my offer at NAU (turning in my documents within the week) and now I am looking for housing. I have found out a lot of valuable info about housing/apts etc. and think a summer lease apt ( if possible) would be more reasonable. Other than what I found on the internet I have no experience with looking for housing because I stayed local for undergrad. Anyway, if you're going to NAU, let me know what you're doing for summer! Maybe we can be roommates.
