  1. For those of you that were SLPAs prior to grad school do you think you found the clinic experience easier? Prepping for clients, working with families etc are all things I do now so I am hoping I won't be AS stressed. I've been in several IEPs with my supervisor, as I was the treating therapist and I know I will be extremely nervous to present ( I am definitely an introvert). Upon leaving grad school do you think you are prepared to present in an IEP?
  2. Same here...just waiting for my rejection letter any day now.
  3. No, I just applied to the regular grad program
  4. Hi, I know this is an old post. Just curious if you eventually got into a school?
  5. If you know exactly what you want to do then go with the school that would allow you to do that. Sometimes the price isn't everything (and I am very cheap so it's hard for me to say this, lol!).
  6. No, it's not. I saw grad housing at 700 per month
  7. Same here. The other schools I was accepted to cost too much. Even though they are 100% online It's not worth paying back that much later on.
  8. Congrats everyone. I was accepted as well. I contacted NAU and they said we pay in state tuition for the three summers we are there and an online tution fall-spring. I calculated less than 45k.
  9. 168 verbal! Yes, you deserve it....congrats.
  10. Thanks for letting us know. May I ask, what are your stats?
  11. This is a great thread and congrats on U of SC @madoc .
  12. My advice would be to make yourself stand out from others as much as possible. Volunteer, research, and/or work with special needs children. I personally worked as an SLPA for 3 years and I truly believe that helped me. I also mentioned that I am fluent in ASL in my SOI and had great letters of rec (from my place of employment). My cum GPA is not good ~2.97, with a 3.5 in the field. Additionally, I talked about my GPA in my SOI. I mentioned my cumulative GPA is from 10+ years ago and was honest in mentioning I was not mature enough when I first entered college. For my major in the field, I talk about earning only A's and B's in the classes but worked 45-50+ hours as well. I also believe explaining my GPA helped because it didn't leave anything up to their interpretation of "what happened". My GRE is just below average so trust me when I say GPA/GRE isn't everything but you have to stand out and write an amazing SOI. I've let around 7 people read my SOI and everyone was crying at the end! I truly wanted this and I tried my best to reflect that my passion in my SOI. Last, apply to as many schools as you can budget for, lol.
  13. Same here. I haven't received anything (yet) and I also read 60 days from the application deadline.
  14. Me too! I am so bummed. This was my top choice.
  15. Your stats are great. May I ask how many schools did you apply to?
  16. That sounds awesome. Do you know how she signed up?
  17. Thank you! That's a good point and when I took classes at a JC it was to save money. If you don't get in then becoming an SLPA is a great path in my opinion. Good luck!
  18. Email then followed with a letter a few days later.
  19. I agree with what everyone else is saying. Make other parts of your application stand out and you will be fine. My cumulative GPA is under a 3.0 and I somehow got in!
