@Jen Kelley My stats are also a bit lower as well. Definitely applied to MedSLP as a reach! I'm also on the east coast, so it will take a lot for me to uproot everything here haha. -

MGH is definitely great for the medical track! I'm really looking forward to it. BU is also very great with voice too, but I can imagine that the voice track at MGH is what you're leaning towards. -

Looking forward to the official letter too! I also got into BU and will be planning to attend both open houses. I'll see you there! -
Hi there! If you need any tips about living in Boston, feel free to DM me. I went to BU for undergrad and currently work in the area.

Best Resume Building Experiences?
BioCook replied to SLPtobe22's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I took two gap years to work in clinical research full-time. I'd say that was the experience that really helped bolster my application. I don't have the strongest stats, but I have two papers and some great experience under my belt. You can do anything related to the field, and that will really show that you are committed to the field! -

There are options for 2, 3, or 4 year scholarships through ROTC. I don't know how common it is at the graduate level, however, but I do know it's an option (and I'm considering it for sure). I wanted to do it in undergrad, but I had less than 2 years left for my degree. If you're going into it without prior service, I don't know what's required, but I can imagine there is additional training involved... let me know if you have other questions re: Army stuff in general!

Currently waiting for MedSLP... I keep on opening the portal and refreshing the results page... the portal says they'd get us decisions by mid-March, but I'm wondering if that's just a rough estimate and that they said the same things last year? -

I'm obsessed with that thread! I agree with @Rezzy S. that our SLP results page needs to step up! -

Excited for you both! I'm still waiting to hear back... luckily MGH is sending out formal letters on the 7th, so at least that waiting game will be over. Let me know if you have questions about Boston in general! -
Does anyone know anyone who has done or is currently doing ROTC during grad school? I'm thinking about it so I can get help with tuition, but I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it during school. I already have military experience, so it is not a new area for me. I've just seen some posts re: working during grad school and I'm wondering if this is feasible or if it's just going to become more of a burden. Any thoughts are appreciated!

The NYMC communications coordinator created a FB page - I haven't seen any new students on the page yet, but it's there. They might be adding students once you put down a deposit.

Teachers College, Columbia. SLP admissions decisions??
BioCook replied to SLP1917's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Oh cool - thanks for doing that! I wouldn't say TOP choice, but it's definitely pretty high on my list. At this point, I think I'm more annoyed with waiting SO long lol. -

Bringing this thread back to life - it looks like Pitt has released decisions around this time. Was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the program! -
Boston University acceptances
BioCook replied to Laurenf131's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hi there - scholarship info was sent out in the acceptance email. It's possible that those scholarships may be offered to other students if those who got accepted with scholarships deny the offer... fingers crossed! -
I feel the same way ugh!! I’m so impatient LOL
-
I wonder if they’ll start back again Monday?
-
Anyone know if they leave voicemails? I’m away all weekend and have minimal signal. Thanks!
