  1. Phew! That’s reassuring. Thanks. Crossing fingers!
  2. Darn it! Was hoping for one haha - thanks for the update. And congrats
  3. @Laurenf131FYI - BU has just started sending emails out! Be on the lookout.
  4. Keep us updated! I'm patiently waiting too haha
  5. I finished knitting a sock! Also, I am going to grad school in the fall!!! Still haven't heard back from all schools yet, but it feels great to get in the first cycle.
  6. I visited a prospective school and one of the current students warned me not to use The Grad Cafe.... and here I am now haha!
  7. Interesting poll - I said Monday because I'm already annoyed during the work week haha. I'd prefer to enjoy a weekend instead. :')
  8. Worry: Starting to see more results for schools I applied to and I haven't heart anything from them... Excitement: I'm going to grad school no matter what! I just really want to see all my options and go from there.
  9. Did you scream as you were writing this post? That would be d̴̥̞̟͖͉̻͛̇̈̾̂̋̚͟Ỏ̴͓̱̦͇̖̫͎̬̲̂͆͂͟͞͠͞U̢̻̗̭͕̩͙̝̙̓̓̏͗́͑̆̍͂́͢B̢͓̝̲̘̾͐͂͆̅̅͂Ļ̷̯͙͙̱̣̤̓̋̾͋̂͜ͅE̻̟̼͖͙̠̲͊̀̀̃͌͑͢͞ T̬͕̜̯̪̆̑͆̓͛̿͟͠Ḧ̶̡̬̳̣̱͇͓́̆̎̀̐̊͒̇̍E̷̞̥̩̞̽̇̆̉͋̅̈́͟͡͠ Ś̶̱̘͍͍̬̗̙́́̌̆̒̈C̷͎̮̰̬̗̹̱̭̻͒̆͐͑̍͠ͅR̘̞̦̼̤͋̃̌̀͘̚͡Ȩ̴̯̝̥̖͌̇̈́̓͊͢͜͜A͍̣̮̥̖̲̱͍͎̔̆̂̂̓̑̓ͅM̷͔͉̲̹̆̄̈̏̓͜ͅ .
  10. Waitlisted from UMN-TC! Got a generic email yesterday... about how they DON'T rank their waitlist... why is that even a thing!
  11. Hi there - it's hard to say what a "good" acceptance rate is for grad school... I think 30-40% is pretty solid, if I had to guess, based on when I was applying to colleges a long time ago heh. Don't worry about your numbers at this point. While it can be a good indication of someone's future performance in grad school, there are so many other ways to show that you are a deserving candidate. You also have plenty of time, even if you were planning to go to grad school straight from undergrad. I'm still waiting to hear back from schools, but I'm on the lower range of GPA, but I have decent GRE scores and experience. I got into schools my first application cycle. You will be fine!!! And identifying what you need to work on now as a sophomore puts you WAY ahead of most students. Best of luck!
  12. Congrats @hopefulSLPtobe!
  13. screaminG AGAIN THX 4 WAITLIST UMN lol
  14. @wishiwasbeyonce Okay thanks! I’ll keep my email close by. I wonder if they’re doing it in chunks.
  15. Darn! My portal hasn’t changed hmm...
  16. Haha right? I was glad someone started this thread. Starting to get anxious about hearing back haha.
  17. Crossing fingers! Hopefully we hear back by the end of today.
  18. I did some research assistant work for 2 years while I was an undergraduate and then got a full-time position with that lab after graduation! I'm in my second gap year now. I think that 4 years of research experience (and 2 papers) are what helped my application despite the bumpy transcript, etc. You can DM me with more specific questions if you're interested to talk more.
  19. I know you weren't asking me, but just FYI, I have a 3.2
  20. If you're crafty at all, it could be nice to make them a small gift. For two of my LOR writters, I knit them hats.
  21. From what I've heard at school visits and interview days from current students, it's possible to work while in school, whether that's a small on-campus coffee shop, research, or TA. It's not for everyone, of course, and it's common for people to work at first and then cut down on hours towards the end of the semester. One tip I've gotten was to take local babysitting jobs because there can be some built-in time for homework if the kids are asleep, etc. I totally feel you re: paying for school. I'm really crossing my fingers for some scholarships...
  22. Experience is what counts! There are so many other ways you can show that you’re dedicated to the field besides your GPA and GRE. I have a lower GPA and pretty competitive GRE scores, but I feel like my full-time research experiences are what made it for my application (this is my first time applying). I graduated from college 2 years ago and will be planning to go to school for Fall 2019! You got this.
  23. I heard that they would get back to us within a week... but who knows! Good luck.
  24. It looks like TC got back to students with decisions at the end of March last year... Which sucks because that's pretty late!
