  1. Hi so I recently got accepted into a forensic psychology masters program at a really well known school in my area. I am waiting on another school where I got wait listed last year, assuming I get in (hopefully going to find out soon) I’m not sure which I would choose. The one where I was waitlisted at last year has had a masters program in forensic psych since 2001, is cheaper, has a higher acceptance rate, and isn’t as well known, but I loved their campus and vibe the times I’ve gone, I can see myself happy there. the one where I recently got accepted has had their masters program for forensic psych since 2012, a lot more expensive, lower acceptance rate, much more prestigious and is like a name brand of sorts. When I went for my interview the director was very dry and short and a little off putting, not the same vibe as the other school. i just don’t want to kick myself later for not going to the better known school in the future for job purposes (I’m not planning on getting a PhD). Although I so far have liked the atmosphere of the other school. People have told me that even though the school I like so far has around 10 years ahead of the other, that it doesn’t mean much, but I’m not sure about that. this is also all me assuming I’ll even have a choice to pick, so we’ll see what the other says!! thoughts??
  2. Hi so I applied to four different Forensic Psychology Masters programs! I just received my first response and got invited to interview with them. It’s in two weeks and they say the interview is about 1.5 hours! I’ve seen on grad cafe for this certain school, George Washington University, that people who have interviewed sometimes get offered admissions on the spot during the interview! Anyone have any tips? Specifically in forensic psychology? Like what type of questions they would ask, etc! Thank you!!!!
  3. Thank you!! I went back last night and put in some more content to the lab paper to make it be at least the minimum word count cause I am afraid they won't even look at it if it is any less. Fingers crossed!!
  4. Thank you so much!! I am looking at my lab work, and one of them is 2,088 words and the minimum for my application is 2,500. Should I go in and add content or leave it as is?
  5. Hi, so the masters program I am applying for is requiring a writing sample of at least 2,500 words. Can I use something that I wrote for lab during my undergrad? or does this have to be something I write for them now? It just says "The writing sample should be a recent sole-authored work of at least 2,500 words (uploaded online)." It doesnt have a topic or anything. this is for a MA in criminology, law and society. Thanks!
  6. Hey! thank you so much!! fingers crossed for this year! I forgot to mention that last year I applied as a full time student and this year I applied as a part time student. Do you think this worsens or betters my chances? I can see it both ways, but hard to tell!
  7. Hi! So last February of 2019 I was waitlisted to Marymount University's forensic and legal psychology master's program! I was told I was in the top third out of 40-50 people. I have been told by one person that had applied to this program that the year previous to that she was waitlisted and that for 2019 she got admitted. Do you think the chances would be that good for me as well? I am definitely re applying this year and I just hope the same outcome goes for me, where I was waitlisted last year and then admitted this year. For this particular program, they say they get around 200 applicants and accept about 95 students. Thoughts? Thank you guys!
  8. I emailed my school today hoping for some good news and they replied quickly that as of now their class is full, now we’ll just see if someone backs out from now till August ?
  9. Hi everyone! I applied to one program, Marymount University Forensic & Legal Psychology Program (M.A.)! I was told on February 25th that I got waitlisted! I emailed the school for more information on my status right after receiving the news and they told me there are about 40-50 people on the waitlist and that I am in the top third! (Side note: they said they get around 200 applicants every year and accept around 90 people). The program had a deadline for a deposit (to save your spot) for accepted students on March 15th. I was really hoping to hear something around those days, hoping that enough people didn't pay for their spot in order for them to offer me admission. I attended their open house and their program specific welcome event (waitlisted students were invited too). What should I do next? Should I wait until after April 15th to email them to see if my rank has changed at all, in hopes that someone who paid for their spot got accepted somewhere else and decided to decline the program? So anxious!!
