Yes, there is just an interview, but it should be pretty formal for physics from what I have heard If you're planning to move anyways you can consider erasmus traineeship as a post-grad (if you don't want to apply for the masters in Germany without a DAAD scholarship). You just need to find a mentor within the University or a lab who is willing to take you in as a trainee, and from this year you get 450 eur per month (I think you can stay for up to one year). It's a decent plan B, you get training, networking, and get some money for it - and you can keep working on your daad application for next year! I'll try it next year again and I hope they don't judge applicants for previous applications ? As soon as the selection is made, you can see ''Selection made'' indicated in the "Status of application" column in the Application and funding overview of the DAAD portal. Completion of further processing steps may take several weeks, until you can finally find your personal selection result in the notification area of the Application and funding overview.
