2021 International Biomedical Applicants

Can I ask why do people think international students have a different admission date than US citizens? From what I understand, the result page gives you a letter code for applicant background. I see plenty of Us (international with US degrees) getting offers in biomedical programs. Based on that, I don't believe there is a separate day where international students receive offers. Please tell me if I'm missing something because I'm as anxious and nervous as all of you. It's just that I would rather be realistic with my expectation.

Depends on the school. Some interview international students separately so your application is reviewed in the same pool with other international applicants and the the entire process is mostly separated from domestic admission. Some don't care at all and treat all applicants the same way. In these cases you'll probably hear back from them at the same time as domestic applicants. However, if you're not physically in the US then they may need to make special arrangements to accommodate time zone differences and that might take time. Some has rolling admission and interview applicants in waves. Some only have one or two interview dates so everyone is notified at once regarding interview invitations and admission decision. Some has several interview dates for domestic applicants but one interview date for all international applicants. It's impossible to read into these things and make generalized prediction.

Just sent an email enquiring the statues. UTSW said “most interview invitations for international students will not be sent until mid-jan”. But it really depends on school themselves, some will review applications separately and therefore have a later date my guess.

Did any international student receive the invite from Upenn BGS ? Just wanna make sure that Upenn truly send out the invites for international student separately

I haven’t heard back from UPenn BGS. I submitted my application on October 27th, but still haven’t received any communication from them regarding rejection/interview! I applied to Pharmacology Graduate Group (PGG) though!

Has anyone here [international/international with US degree] received an invite from Weill Cornell IMP? And if so, when did you submit your app?

I also applied to WCM IMP and did not receive an invitation. I emailed them yesterday and they said that they are still reviewing applications.

Thanks for this thread!

I'm an international with US degree.

Applied to:

- Harvard MCO

- UPenn CAMB

- UChicago CMB

- Weill-Cornell BCMB

- Yale Bio

- Princeton Molecular Bio

- MIT Biology

- Northwestern DGP

- Columbia Biology

So far got interview invites for UChicago and Weill-Cornell. Assuming I got rejected for Harvard, UPenn, Yale, Northwestern, and Princeton.

Hi all! I've been lurking pretty heavily here (and other threads) since lord knows when, so I thought it's time to contribute:) I am an international student from India and did my BS in the US, and have been working as a research technician for about 2 years now. I applied to the following programs:

- Vanderbilt IGP
- UVa BIMS
- Duke UPGG
- University of Utah, Biosciences (Mol Bio)
- Princeton Mol Bio
- Stanford Dev Bio
- Cornell (Ithaca) GGD
- UCSD Biological Sciences
- UC Davis BMCDB
- CU Boulder MCDB
- Stowers Graduate School

Other than Stanford and Stowers, all my apps were submitted ~10 days before the Dec1 deadline. So far I have heard back from Duke, Utah, and Stowers for an interview. I'm not holding onto hope for Vandy, UVa, and UCSD since I've seen invites go out and have heard nothing from the schools.

Congrats to all those who got interviews!

Hey, University of Utah is common between us. I am interviewing there on January 29th. Is it the same for you? I applied for Bioscience PhD program - Biological Chemistry Track!

Any international students heard back from NYU biomedical sciences program at Vilcek? I saw a handful of people already got invites and start to lose hope. I submitted my application right before deadline.

Nice! Mine is on Feb 26th! I think they’re different tracks that’s probs why interview dates are also different.

Hey, I haven't heard back from NYU at all. This is the second year that I am applying to NYU. Last year, I directly received a rejection letter on January 17th. This year, I am expecting at least an interview invite. I emailed the admissions regarding the status last week but I have not received any response yet! As an international, getting into NYU - Vileck Institute is extremely competitive.

Thank you for the response! Sigh...hopefully they are still reviewing applicants and will send out invites in the next few weeks. I only saw domestic students received interviews on the results page, but not sure if it is true. Do you mind keep me updated if they respond you? Thank you!
