butterscotch Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 So who all will be at Colorado State in a week?! Getting pumped!! I applied there back in December and have yet to hear back from them =( Did they send an acceptance e-mail or did the pre-application update the status?
BovaFett Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I applied there back in December and have yet to hear back from them =( Did they send an acceptance e-mail or did the pre-application update the status? My acceptance letter from CSU came as an email on Jan 25, and a hard copy in the mail about a week later.
MadScience Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Still no word from UNC I know they sent out a few rejections on Friday, do you think it's possible I still have a shot/was waitlisted? I am getting nervous since I need a bit of notice in advance to take off of work, and I also don't want to schedule any visits during their visiting weekends, in case I am lucky enough to get an acceptance. I emailed the department of chemistry last week (2/10) to inquire about the status of my app but got no response. Do you think I should email someone else? Like a POI? Or should I just calm down and continue waiting? (Ha! Calm down..sure )
butterscotch Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 My acceptance letter from CSU came as an email on Jan 25, and a hard copy in the mail about a week later. Ok cool, did you complete their pre-app early December?
MrOtrebla Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Ok cool, did you complete their pre-app early December? Pre-app? I completed one application in early Jan and got my acceptance late Jan if I recall correctly... For those who are going this weekend... who intends to socialize instead of going back to the hotels to study at night? Hopefully I can lure some grads out to grab some drinks and really talk about the labs they work in
Kava Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Does anyone know about Vanderbilt? I saw the stream of rejections, but I still haven't heard anything. Even if I'm accepted, I'm sure it would make a difference at this point since my visitation schedule is already full. I just want to know their decision since I put a lot of work into my applications. I think most of us already have a good idea of which school we are going to attend, but I hate having outstanding applications at this point. Does anyone else feel this way??

Hopefully I can lure some grads out to grab some drinks and really talk about the labs they work in For what it's worth I applied mid-november and I heard back right before Christmas, so they should have a pretty quick turn around for acceptances. It seems there is a second visiting weekend in March so if someone hasn't heard back yet they might hear back in the second round. I don't imagine you'll have too much trouble getting people to join you with that. Edited February 20, 2013 by Faraday
BovaFett Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Who are going to UT visit next weekend? Which UT?

tyther Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) Finally got my first acceptance in Boston University. Visiting weekend is March 1st and 2nd. Looks like its going to be my only acceptance, but I'll be happy there. Edited February 23, 2013 by tyther

claisen Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 So guys, do you have any info what are the average sizes of the new graduate classes in chemistry? How many people do they take at each program? What is the difference between large and small program?
Olah Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Alright - the rejection from MIT came in yesterday. I've got all my answers! Busy visitation schedule ahead (followed by the ACS conference in NOLA), and then a tough decision. I found the rejection e-mails from both UC Berkeley and MIT to be exceptionally mechanical and not at all personalized. Did anybody else have this experience?
theoretician Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 How did you find out about your rejection to MIT? I still have heard nothing from them and have no idea what this means.
DropTheBase Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 How did you find out about your rejection to MIT? I still have heard nothing from them and have no idea what this means. They sent an email: "MIT Chemistry Application Decision"
zs3889 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 This thread seems rather quiet this weekend, with everyone at their visiting weekends, wish everyone luck, this weekend and upcoming weekends. I'm jealous!!
Faraday Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 My visit this weekend was fantastic, despite the snow storm that rolled through as everyone had to leave. It looks like this is the official visiting/deciding season now for most people so good luck to everyone in making the right choice so that we can all be happy and satisfied with where we go! Cookie Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 This accept/decline process is very nerve racking... If only can one predict his future
SIOOC Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) Anyone else still waiting for Wake Forest? It is the last one I am waiting for, I got shot down by my #1 and unfortunately did not apply to many backups so I am really stuck until I know my options. Edited February 25, 2013 by SIOOC

I haven't heard back yet from Wake Forest either at this point :/
theoretician Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Hey so someone posted in the results search that they were still waiting to hear back from Caltech. I called earlier today and they said if you haven't heard back yet, they are still making a decision on your application. They also said you could hear back as late as April but hopefully they send out more admissions before the March visiting weekend. On a different note, is anyone else visiting Stanford next Thursday, March 7th?
MadScience Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Just called UNC and I'm on the wait list. So if anyone else hasn't heard back yet, there is still hope
