ArthChauc Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I never got the whole Dunkin thing until I moved to my current location. It's the real deal. Also, I'm scared at the prospect of potentially moving to a state with no Tim Hortons.
iExcelAtMicrosoftPuns Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I never got the whole Dunkin thing until I moved to my current location. It's the real deal. Also, I'm scared at the prospect of potentially moving to a state with no Tim Hortons. Back when I was a rough and tough 21 year old I once walked to the Tim Hortons while drunk sometime around midnight. I asked the server for one of their sandwiches. "Make it yourself" he said "and it's free. I'm going out for a smoke." So I walked behind the counter and made my own sandwich. I haven't felt the same about the Canadian coffee place since.
ICanHazPhdPreez? Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 We don't have either of those here... But Dunkin is apparently opening stuff. Also side note we just got a Panera and I am still weeping with happiness 4 days after it opened. Definitely just raced to the Panera website to make sure I can get my cinnamon crunch bagel fix if I move to California. Katia_chan 1

Also, I'm scared at the prospect of potentially moving to a state with no Tim Hortons. I grew up with and have a healthy appreciation for Dunkin. However, I had Tim Hortons for the first time last year and fell in love with it. Maybe that's why I applied to two schools in Ohio... ArthChauc 1

Also, I'm scared at the prospect of potentially moving to a state with no Tim Hortons. Oooh, I can't stand Tim Horton's! But midwestern coffee tastes don't align with mine, in general. Watered-down coffee? WHY? D-8 If I can read the newspaper through it, you need to just get right out of here with that stuff. ;-)
Horb Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Rejected from Chicago. Didn't even get an MA offer. Sad end to my application season...
daylate Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Rejected from Chicago. Didn't even get an MA offer. Sad end to my application season... Same here. I applied to the PhD program last year and was offered the MA, but turned it down in hopes of trying for the PhD again with a stronger application the second time around. Apparently I'm moving in the wrong direction.
Horb Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm happy, just bitter I mean, not against anyone really, but just upset I didn't do as well as I thought I'd do. But I'm VERY lucky to have gotten in somewhere.
back2black Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm happy, just bitter I mean, not against anyone really, but just upset I didn't do as well as I thought I'd do. But I'm VERY lucky to have gotten in somewhere. Congrats on the culmination of your application season, Horb! More importantly, congrats on all of your acceptances! Three PhD acceptances, one wait list, and two MA offers sounds amazing. Think of it this way-- now comes the fun part, the ball is in your court and you get to choose while the different schools wait to hear from you! I have one acceptance, two wait lists, and three schools that I'm still waiting to hear from, but just knowing I have at least one acceptance makes this whole process feel WAY better.
bgguitarist Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I'm accepted at U Florida! Just got off the phone with the DGS. They are only taking 9 applicants this year, and have over 200 applications. Funding is fairly dismal. They won't pay for me to visit. But, I am eligible for the Kirkland Fellowship because I'm a Victorianist, so that would make a large difference in the funding. Moments later, I checked my email and discovered I'd been rejected by U Chicago. They didn't offer me an M.A. but I already have one. Kamisha, chaucerettescs, mmorrison and 3 others 6

BunnyWantsaPhD Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) And there's officially a University of Iowa acceptance on the board! Anyone want to claim it and share any of the details? They're my last hope! Come on, Iowa! Edited March 5, 2014 by BunnyWantsaPhD
andromache Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 At this point, mostly waiting to here from Fordham MA and UWashington MA, and to see if I make it off the wait list at Case. I'd love an offer than provides more than just half-tuition.

I'd love an offer than provides more than just half-tuition. I've only been on a funding wait list for one day and I'm already pining for an email from the department. I feel your financial woes.
