Ask and you shall receive. Two rejections in less than an hour. I'm not holding out hope for much else at this point.

Yeah, I know how that feels. Outside of the first program to respond to me (MSU, interviewed), I'm running on several rejections all in a row right now. It does wonders for self-confidence and anxiety. I wish I had someone to lean on where I am, but my ex broke up with me right when I was ramping up for applications, my friends are all extraordinarily busy working in law or doing grad school, my family moved away from Chicago, and just this past week my grandmother died. So it's been a whirl.

I slammed almost 2 bottles of wine this past Friday, but I don't see myself doing that again in the near future after facing that hangover...

the silence in my inbox is defeaning. I just took on more work so I have something to focus on and distract myself from looking at my disappointing inbox and hear the shattering sound of my dreams breaking on another interview invite-less day. lol. and it's almost 5am again and I didn't sleep a wink. I don't think I'll be able to sleep properly until March.

Anyone else get a ton of spam emails from schools that want you to apply but have degrees not at all related to your interests?

I keep thinking I got a new email and it's a something like a solicitation for a data science program. Ergh.

I had to unsubscribe and cull pretty much all of the offers I was getting based on the GRE student search. I really wish I wouldn't have signed up, and I wish more people knew that you will get a lot of offers from schools you're not interested in that try to convince you to go into a degree you have no intention of pursuing. (For example, I get a TON of MSW and PhD Sociology emails). I'm sure ETS is making money selling our profiles though, so there's that. Ughhh. Just try to unsubscribe to them if you can.

I get a ton of emails for public health and data science programs (also things like informatics). I have no clue why they them to me. I'm a history major and my quant score was only 151, hardly good enough to pursue me over.

At least i'm not the only one. While I'm flattered that NYU is trying to get me to attend their MPH program, that's not really my discipline. :)

Pratt emails me constantly. Apparently, they think I'll make a great art appraiser. Womp womp.

Sooooo I did it. I made a fake email and emailed my top choice to find out where they were in the admissions process. Found out that the faculty are currently reviewing the applications and that I should hear back no later than the end of the month. I knew all of this, but it was nice to hear some sort of confirmation. And I didn't get the dreaded "Yeah we sent our acceptances already!" line, though I doubt they would have said that even if they had.

I've been wasting my time away making my third consecutive "love you" day card. I don't even know why I do this. He doesn't care about cards. Sigh.

Those are lovely! You could start an etsy business. I bet you'd rake in more than a grad stipend around Valentine's day. :)

It's totally not a waste of time at all. Card making is a hobby I've always wanted to get into. I found out recently that people are using their card making skills to send seniors cards for Valentines day via Meals on Wheels. I can't think of many of my hobbies that: 1) are that creative 2) have the potential to help others 3) have such a wonderfully cute end result.

Looking up the meals on wheels/valentines connection now! I know some folks who would totally dig that idea. And organizing it might be an excellent distraction. Thanks for the tip!

That's so cute! I can't see it clearly since the picture is small but did you use canvas?

Did you email the department directly or the grad school in general?

@123hardasABC definitely 100% the pokedex I now want one for my terribly boring phone!!

@sjoh197 as many others have said, those cards are beautiful! You could definitely set up an etsy with them if you so wanted.

@Pink Fuzzy Bunny CONGRATULATIONS! Tell us your secret....?

So I haven't checked my application statuses in 2 days, I feel like I'm in AA telling you all that! I've been so rushed off my feet I have barely had time to breathe. Realised yesterday that it had got to 6.30pm and I hadn't eaten in 11 hours. That's bad!! I also lost my belly bar :( so had to put an order in and I know that I need to spend ~$100 on a pair of specialised shoes for my sport that I just don't have right now. Daaaaaadddd??? And that's all I got time for today on this thread so I look forward to catching up and reading about your happy news, commiserate about any sad news and 100% join the club with the whining!

I'm waiting for my plane...for an in-person group interview. I'm nervous and excited and it's an overnight flight, and my nerves are all bundled and jumping. The next two days are going to be so intense, and I'm so worried about saying something stupid or having food stuck in my teeth or not knowing what to say next! This is my top choice school, and I've received some rejections, some waitlist notifications, so much is riding on this interview...anyone have tips for not having a panic attack?

It's so ironic that I teach Public Speaking and Interpersonal communication and yet I can't seem to get my own act together.
