Greetings,

I followed this forum for my two rounds of applying to MFA programs.  During that time I compiled a list of interview questions that I've attached.  I starred the ones that were similar to questions I was asked.

Keep in mind that schools are "curating" a class.  You may have great work, but it doesn't fit into their design. Try not to get depressed :-).   Think of interviews as a conversation instead of an interrogation!  Most interviewers are very friendly and understand your stress.  Be honest about your work even if it seems counter to what you think they want to hear.

Good Luck

Hey, thank you stitcher!! Your pdf download isn't working for me though, I'm getting an access denied message. Might be easier to upload to dropbox or something similar?

I'm not sure if anyone here is into New Media but so far I've been asked to interview at UCSD visual art, UCLA DMA, USC interactive media, UCSC danm, and NYU tisch game design. Just a heads up for those that do New Media and games (MFA).

Congratulations! Can you send a link to some of your work? Would love to check it out.

I just saw your portfolio and I just wanted to say: Your works are amazing. I know USC has been pumping out some exceptional game designers (Journey, Hyper Light Drifter, etc.) and the possibility of working with any UCLA's faculty members (Lauren McCarthy, Casey Reas, etc.) is to die for any new media people. I'm sure any of the schools you are applying for are going to be super lucky to have you as a student. Keep creating!

Also, good luck for the interviews everyone! We can do this! B)

::blush:: Thank you! :3

Hello everyone I finally got a name to comment here. Thank god this forum exists, it is a very helpful anxiety relieving place to be.

Yesterday I received an email invitation for interview at Columbia for the 3rd March. I applied for New Genres but it said Moving Image/New Genres on their way of mentioning the program I applied for. Thought it would be good to share it here. Has anyone else here also applied for New Genres?

Moving Image/New Genres are lumped together at Columbia. They said they are accepting 10 in total at the info session.

Ok, thank you for the info!

Do you know how many they interview? Will spend my last pennies with flying over there for the interview. But since I have been applying for a few years, it is worth it going in person.

I don't know how many people they invite to interview, unfortunately. Congratulations on getting one! Good luck!!
