  1. Congrats!!! That first acceptance is such a relieving feeling. I'm wishing you a few more acceptances, and closer to CA!
  2. Thanks for the heads up about Redlands- I'd been wondering about that school since I haven't received any emails, and there was no portal! I've feverishly refreshed the results page, but it did not seem as if an interview was part of the admissions process?
  3. Accelerated program was around 90k when I ran the numbers a few months ago. Definitely more than 60! If you work in a school district (I believe the districts around UOP) for 3?? years after, you get some (I could be wrong on this one, but I believe a considerable amount) of your loans waived. I would e-mail directly to find out more about that option. I chose not to apply based on cost and the lack of financial aid besides loans. A peer that got waitlisted there talked about the positives of the loan reimbursement program as she wants to work in the schools. Program: The facilities are gorgeous with up to date equipment. I've volunteered with two UOP undergrads who have both raved about their intimate program and great faculty relationships. I was totally wow-ed during the open house with how grand the facilities were compared with my public school! If you get a chance to visit the program, I definitely would. Location: It's Stockton- the city itself comes with less privilege than many other CA towns. There's visible poverty outside of the school and issues that arise in a socioeconomically lower class community are present. Meanwhile, the opinion that the city is "dangerous" is very biased and largely stems on one's personal experiences and community growing up.
  4. Did you interview this past Monday at 4pm!? There was a girl that drove from LA in my group, haha.
  5. I agree. I was a bit disappointed with this interview format. If a survey comes around post-interview (happened at one school I interviewed at), I will definitely voice that another component to the interview would make it feel more personal for the students. My group had a lot of repeats as well. We reached a conclusion pretty quickly. It seemed like everyone in my group contributed an equal amount, with no one really taking a solid "lead". I heard the decisions will be made (through email and snail mail) 2-3 weeks from now!
  6. A question was asked during the interview if I would be willing to drive 1-2 hours one way for clinical placements. The university is located in such a small town, and with a cohort of 40, they can't find placements for all students in the town, especially students seeking more "specialty" placements down the line. I would rather be in a larger town with more placement opportunities (besides social life/vibe)!
  7. When did you interview for LIU? I feel like most people hear 1-2 weeks after their interview.
  8. If I don't hear by tomorrow, I'll assume I was rejected. During the info session, I believe it was said that everyone would be contacted this week who was accepted or waitlisted. I can hope! haha
  9. I was accepted into Texas Tech today, about a week after my interview. It was noted at the end of the interview that acceptances were going out in waves. I want to wait until all my results roll in, but I most likely will not be accepting this offer due to the location and clinical placements.
  10. Still waiting on Pacific! It's so nerve-wracking seeing other people get results on the results page. Losing a little hope, as today the only results were waitlist. Also I noted that one other person who interviewed my same day got a notification already.
  11. @pbandj I wonder if they were re-using situations. My situation was very black and white as well, and agreement was reached within the first five minutes.
  12. Me too! You still have so many schools to hear back from, I'm sure you'll hear good news soon!
  13. Was a Kin major wanting to do OT. Realized I loved speech. Science grades tanked my cumulative. When I switched to majoring in speech, my cumulative was a 3.2. Raised it to a 3.5 during the major. Really wanted to apply straight out of undergrad because this is my 5th year due to switching majors. GRE's were mediocre. Good essay writer + lots of clinical experience and A's in the pre-reqs definitely helped. I'm getting rejected out of CA / OR so far, so definitely thankful I applied out of state. If I were to reapply, I would improve my essays. Cocky about my writing ability, I didn't have anyone proof them until the end (when I was just applying to East Coast). My "final" essays are a lot stronger than the beginning ones.
  14. CONGRATULATIONS!! I agree- that first acceptance is such a relief!
  15. I felt like the faculty couldn't really get to know students through that observation. It was also really difficult to "shine" without seeming "pushy", too. I was happy my interview group had gotten to the waiting room early, so we all had a chance to talk and break the ice before we entered.
  16. I'm still waiting on Pacific as well. It's one of my top choices, so we'll see.
  17. Congrats about Tier 1 waitlist! Best of luck!
  18. I posted this in another thread, but for SFSU the group consisted of 6 applicants and 3 faculty. For 15 minutes we were given a scenario, and asked to work as a team to discuss the scenario, then spend 5 minutes reaching a group conclusion. That was the entire interview, haha.
  19. Same. Right after I posted what schools I was waiting on, I looked at the results page and saw someone had an acceptance at Pacific (a school I'm waiting on haha).
  20. For me I'm curious about moving my car. I'm hoping to be able to drive it to my destination, but if I go back East, would want to ship it. I plan on getting new furniture wherever I move from Craiglist/Ikea/Goodwill. Moving from my suburb to the city for undergrad (an hour drive) was a pain in itself hahaha.
  21. The interview was unlike any of my others. 6 of us were present (though from fellow friends their groups ranged from 3-7). We were asked to introduce ourselves, and then asked ZERO! questions about ourselves. That's how the interviews were done last year as well (I've heard). We were given a scenario, and asked to discuss it as a group for 15 minutes, then spend 5 minutes reaching a group conclusion. That was the end of the interview. The floor was opened up if students had questions about the program, then it was handshake/leave. I believe 3 faculty are present at all interviews. Overall, the faculty are looking to see how one collaborates. I was able to chat with my group before in the waiting room, and felt like we collaborated well. Feel free to PM me if you want a number to text in case you have questions (I'm a current student @ SF). I have clinic from 1-4 on Thursdays, and the clinic rooms are (literally) right next to the conference room the faculty are using for interviews in case you get lost or just want a backup contact!
  22. I'm waiting on Portland State, Eastern WA (have an interview Friday for them lol), Pacific (interviewed), SFSU (interviewed), Fullerton, Chapman, Redlands, and LIU Post (interviewed).
  23. It was quick! The interviewer asked me to talk about myself, and then asked me a clinical scenario question. She then went on to ask my GPA's and GRE's. I did not have a writing assignment. I told her I scored a 5.0 both times I took the GRE- not sure if that had anything to do with it.
  24. I have one at SF State today, so I'll share my experience after!
  25. I have a Skype interview w LIU post at 6:30 in the morning tomorrow , haha. I chose 9:30am Eastern time as originally when I was e-mailed about the interview, I was told the Skype option was down so I was planning to fly. Then SFSU's group interview in the afternoon! Busy Monday, hahaha.
