  1. There is a very high likelihood I will be declining LaSalle! I plan on crunching the financial numbers this weekend (at this point I'm just waiting on one final school, so will just include it in case haha), but I am 99% sure I will be declining the few East Coast schools I was accepted into. Fingers crossed you get in!
  2. I was accepted at Eastern WA, not sure if I'll be attending though, so hopefully the spot will help someone else out! I really need to sit down and make a spreadsheet about costs. Eastern WA emailed me a week ago asking me to do a financial aid thing, which I never did, because I assumed I wasn't going to get in....whoops.
  3. Congrats!! That first acceptance feels amazing!! You could definitely get by on public transit here. I only brought my car because I work in the East Bay, and it's easier (for me) to drive (I get really bad anxiety on public transit)
  4. In terms of rent, I was paying $935/month through school housing to share half of a room in an apartment w 5 girls. Starting April 1st?? new students can put in their student housing requests. The pro is it's so close, you can street park (free) and walk/bike to campus. The con is student housing runs a bit pricier than the regular market, haha. I'm looking into getting a room to myself for around $950/month. Meanwhile, I would have to uber or bus about 8 minutes via car to campus each day...or purchase a parking pass, which is around $500 a semester to park in the school garage.
  5. So frustrating that I have seen acceptances go out for schools but heard nothing...for schools that don't have a portal, a notification email (assumed rejection) would be nice. Even for schools with a portal, I would rather have a rejection email than be checking every few days!
  6. A BIG yes! I was so surprised to how many schools I had to add in summer costs. I'm leaning SFSU with cost being a very large factor. (Though rent / parking here isn't exactly a picnic)
  7. Congrats, & thanks for the info! I'm still waiting on ODU, Redlands, Chapman, Eastern WA, and FL Atlantic!
  8. It is, unless you choose to do the Autism or AAC specializations! Then a few of your classes are flipped, and you finish in the summer of 2019 instead of Spring!
  9. I'm debating making one for San Francisco State as I didn't see one...I want to wait a few days because many of my peers (I'm a current student) are still waiting to hear news. If I do, I'll edit this in with the link haha.
  10. Calculating costs is almost as equal a nightmare as it was choosing schools to apply to. I'm factoring in tuition (I wish programs just gave you a breakdown up front instead of trying to figure out summer costs, etc.), average rent, etc.
  11. I'm so excited! I initially thought I might want to have an out of state adventure, but looking at the costs stopped me in my tracks! I was panicking because I didn't get into the other CA publics I had applied to, haha
  12. I applied to.....15. Total and utter mistake.
  13. I don't, but my friend is also in the same boat waiting, if that makes you feel any better, haha.
  14. I got what I THINK is an acceptance letter via snail mail. "The CD department is prepared to recommend admission provided the following conditions are met: bachelors degree in progress, and certificate of clearance (background check)." I assume this is a conditional acceptance...why couldn't they just have been very loud and clear, haha?! Edit: I emailed two of my old professors (from SFSU), and it is an acceptance, haha.
  15. I applied to waaaaay too many schools, and am still waiting on: Redlands, Chapman, CSU Fullerton (assumed rejection since didn't get a call last week), Eastern WA (interviewed), SF State (interviewed), Old Dominion, and Florida Atlantic.
  16. I also think professors often have insight on their graduate departments and know the pros and cons of their school. I know for the three NorCal CSU's (San Jose, SFSU, East Bay), I have heard more negatives than positives regarding graduate vs undergraduate level. This is mainly due to budget/funding, less opportunities, disorganization, etc.
  17. Word on the street is that the CD department sent their decisions to the graduate college last Thursday, who does the actual notifying for all departments. Notification should be via both snail mail, and email.
  18. Is that 20,500 per academic year? --- I updated my FAFSA today...I applied to over 10 schools, so in the update I took off schools I was rejected too, and added a school I was accepted to that I didn't have on there before.
  19. I interviewed with Eastern 3/10! Didn't apply to the other two. Hoping to hear back soon too. Edit: My signature claims I interviewed 2/10....but I thought I interviewed with Eastern in March. Either way, it's been a week or two
  20. CONGRATS you two! That first acceptance is so relieving. You're going to grad school!
  21. I'm okay too. I'm just glad we (finally!) heard
  22. Finally heard back from Pacific via email today, unfortunately a rejection. I wasn't feeling too hot about my chances after seeing so many others already get notifications, but I'm glad I finally heard something!
  23. Finally heard back from Pacific! Unfortunately it was a rejection. I had interviewed with them in-person 2/24, and was not feeling so hot after I saw so many other folks get notifications last week. Also heard back from LIU Post- an acceptance! I interviewed with them via Skype 3/6. As of right now, LIU is my top choice, though I'm still waiting on a few more West Coast schools (my ultimate top choices).
  24. I did too. I really like Idaho's communication with the applicants.
