  1. I agree with all of these things! Extra money for all of the fees and costs would be huge! I've also found a laminator to be an amazing tool to have for both pediatric sites and adults as well.
  2. I think it depends on the program and how research-heavy it is. In my program, we have to take an entire class just on research statistics and computing them by hand or with calculators and software. It is intense!
  3. I can't give you advice on the area, but you're going to want to talk to the Director of Rehab. They'll let you know from there what the next steps will be; however, please allow for plenty of time because the contracts and paperwork can take awhile! Best wishes!
  4. I am a current graduate student as ENMU and my GRE scores were157 verbal, 146 quantitative, 4.5 analytical writing. My undergrad GPA was 3.6. I know before I applied there I went to visit. I was informed that each application is based on points awarded for the different application aspects such as GRE scores and GPA; however, I was told the essay question part of the application is worth at least half of the points so to really concentrate on that. Hopefully this helps! Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have.
  5. I think it depends on the program. Some programs are not much harder than undergrad classes while other programs are extremely rigorous, and it can also differ from professor to professor. I have heard many different stories from graduate students in other programs. Personally, I would see about connecting with a second year student from your program and getting their feedback. It'll probably be much more useful than generalized information.
  6. I'm a current grad student there. Portales is smaller and most students stay at the San Juan village apartments, but just keep in mind that although these are "apartments" they still do checks etc to see if there is alcohol etc. I currently am doing the online program as I've already completed my initial semester, and I don't mind it. There's a mixture of both. If you wish to be a GA for the program you'll need to stay a year. There are other graduate positions that you can do for other departments for just a semester. If you have any questions, just ask!
  7. I think it depends on the programs that you are applying to as well as how high your verbal and analytical writing scores are. From my understanding, all the schools that I applied to didn't really focus that much on the quantitative scores as long as you meet the school's minimum GRE requirements. I had a higher verbal score and a really low quantitative and every admissions person I talked to said it didn't matter very much. Hope this helps and isn't too confusing. I'm cutting down my coffee intake which apparently makes me ramble haha!
  8. I have to agree with koalalover1. I went and visited a few different campuses. It enabled me to see whether or not a program was going to be a good fit and if I would be a good fit for the program. I was also able to become more than an application and I think it can help your chances if you are good at in-person situations. The school that was my top choice pre-visit became my last choice post-visit and the school that was my last choice became my top choice! It made decisions so much easier to make in regards to acceptances and now I'm set to start the spring semester at my (new) top choice and I'm confident in my decision; all because of visiting! I say go for it!
  9. I can't edit my previous post for some reason but I just wanted to say to Cheltroy and SpeechieMM; don't give up yet! Seriously, I have more rejections under my belt than I care to think about. You still might get in!!!! Don't give up! If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
  10. Provisional acceptance for me as well! I'm over the moon excited! I have no idea how this is going to work with the classes that they want me to take but I'm going to go with it!
  11. I'm thinking I should hear tomorrow. Anyone hear today?!
  12. Seriously, thank you!!! You don't even know how much I appreciate you right now!!
  13. Not yet and it's killing me!! Maybe we'll hear tomorrow?
  14. I hope we hear tomorrow! So far as I can tell people generally hear 5 - 10 days after the 15th. Here's to good news tomorrow!
  15. Has anyone been in contact with Dr. Swift or anyone else from the program? This waiting is the hardest part! I meant to share my stats earlier, major GPA of 3.6, GRE: Verbal - 157, Quantative - 146 (ouch), and Analytical Writing - 4.5.
  16. Yikes! Now I'm going to be incredibly anxious for the next 10 days! Let's hope we all get in and we all hear incredibly quickly!!
  17. I didn't use it last year and it was a huge pain. I think it took about 3 weeks going back and forth to get my transcripts to their standards. If I was to do CSDCAS again I would definitely use the service just so I don't go through that again! Anything for less stress :)
  18. Jen, The essay portion is a part of the application packet for the program. It's different but I had fun with it! I hope that answered your question. My apologies if it didn't. Best of luck to you!
  19. I applied as well, and even went to visit the school in early August. From what I understand they have fewer applicants for the spring so I'm hoping it will be less competitive as well. Last year I noticed that a notification was posted to their Facebook page that the letters were sent out on October 16th last year. I'm having a hard time not having an online application status to check everyday haha! I hope all of us make it in!
  20. I am not looking forward to the stress at all again! I applied for some spring admissions schools, but I'm planning on getting everything ready for fall admission as well; just in case! I didn't retake the GRE or take any classes because I feel like they're okay for where I'm applying. I did totally rework my SOP and had as many people read it as possible. I think my first one might have hurt me the first time. I'm confident that if we keep trying we will be accepted eventually!
  21. I have my applications out to Eastern New Mexico University, University of Central Missouri, University of Louisiana, Kansas State University, and University of Northern Iowa for Spring of 2016. The reason that I'm applying is because I did not get in on my first application season. I'm praying this time around I'll have some different results!!! I don't think we'll be getting replies until October 15th at the earliest from what I've understood. I wish you the best of luck and I hope we both end up in grad school come January!
