I'm going to chime in with my 2c. I wouldn't call CTL a clinical experience (and frankly, some of these crisis line experiences are more harmful than helpful - don't get me started on 7 Cups. Thankfully CTL has pretty robust training). A lot of that is just supportive listening, in the vein of a peer support. And you're largely talking from a script anyways.
With a bachelor's, you can work as an MHT/BHT, and THAT I would count as clinical experience since you're managing a psychiatric milieu and/or co-running groups. Other things I would consider clinical experience: ABA, internships where you have supervised patient interaction, mental health camps for youth with developmental disabilities. Things that I would not consider clinical experience: "volunteering" at a shelter, shadowing, anything with NAMI

Also older and unconventional (this is a.... third career for me.....) I actually use my variety of jobs as one of my biggest "strengths" when asked in interviews because it means I've worked with folks from such very diverse backgrounds. Plus, I always have great stories to share when I need to make small talk
I've also found that being more experienced/older means that I am not nervous AT ALL on interview days. It's easy to pick out the inexperienced folks because they look so uncomfortable in their suits and aren't quite sure how to conduct themselves. I didn't even wear a suit (chiffon blouse + slacks ftw) but I felt so confident and genuinely enjoyed making small talk and interacting with staff and faculty. It just came very naturally to me. I haven't needed to prep for any of my interviews at all.

Insiders Guide says for UMSL 167 applied and 9 accepted. South Bama, 130 applied and 10 accepted. These are numbers from the 2017 cycle. Not for this year, but better than nothing!

So after all the drama of my sickness and the 8 interview schedule, I don’t even get to go to the interview weekend because of the polar vortex! I am instead going on Monday to meet my POI and their grad student and maybe a couple other professors along with another student who couldn’t make the weekend. I have to say I’m relieved at least to be able to get some more rest before I go, even if I am missing a midterm!

I know TONS of clinical programs have their interviews this weekend. That said, I want to send all the best vibes to everyone for their interviews!!! You've worked really hard to get to this point, and this is your chance to really blow them away! BUT don't forget to breathe and enjoy meeting the people who will most likely be your colleagues or collaborators in the future. Also, remember to assess how well the program fits YOU. Good luck everyone!!

I have with a few of mine! They asked me generic questions e.g. why this program, how did you hear about us, how do you feel about living in this city, etc. They also offered to answer questions about program logistics (e.g. practical timelines, scholarships, etc). For me, a lot of our time was spent talking about advanced standing since I already have a masters and was applying for programs which would allow me to transfer courses.

They're waiting to see if others decline the opportunity to interview. Given the crapshoot that application cycles are, I doubt anyone would say no to an interview unless they're REALLY strapped for cash or already got into their top choice. That said, Suffolk's interview is much later so maybe someone will change their mind between now and then. Good luck!!

Oh lordy. My partner is going into his last year of postbacc studies for med school (his undergrad was in a liberal arts area). So he'll be applying next fall. We have absolutely no idea how we're going to work out that geographical puzzle. He said he would try to apply to schools near where I get in, but med school is just as much of a crapshoot so I'm encouraging him to apply broadly even if it means long distance for several years. Ugh.

Okay I'm jumping the gun a little, but I'm starting to narrow down my application list and wanted to connect with anyone who is planning on applying for fall 2019 matriculation!
My focus is in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, with a primary research interest in eating disorders. The list thus far:
Top choices: UNT (PhD Counseling), Rutgers (PsyD Clinical), Northeastern (PhD Counseling), Springfield (PsyD Counseling), Yeshiva (PsyD Clinical), LIU Brooklyn (PhD Clinical), Adelphi (PhD Clinical) Mid-level choices: Xavier (PsyD Clinical), CCNY (PhD Clinical), Suffolk (PhD Clinical), IUP (PsyD Clinical), UHartford (PsyD Clinical), UIndy (PsyD Clinical), Fairleigh Dickinson (PhD Clinical), Drexel (PhD Clinical) Safeties: KCUMB (PsyD Clinical - new program, not APA yet), Chestnut Hill College (PsyD Clinical), Immaculata (PsyD Clinical), PCOM (PsyD Clinical) Reeeeeach: UNC-Chapel Hill (PhD Clinical), Emory (PhD Clinical), WashU (PhD Clinical), Univ of Kansas (PhD Clinical), Miami University of Ohio (PhD Clinical), UNC-Charlotte (PhD Clinical) Still a long list, but I'm taking my time chipping away at it. I'm hoping to apply to ~15 programs and choose based on practicum experiences (I want at least 2-3 full years in community clinics) and research match.
    What are y'all thinking?

I assumed it's just so if the POI or someone else searched their name on google then it wouldn't ping to this forum. Maybe to keep internet search results focused on more relevant pages, maybe to not raise the POI's curiosity to click the link here and potentially see someone they're interviewing speaking unprofessionally, or some professors may not love the idea that you've publicly revealed information about your invitation before they send rejections I'm honestly clueless but figured it was something along those lines.
