Mine is the same! I hope to hear from one school next week and then it will be middle or end of March until I hear anything else! I feel you--my heart races every time I check the portals, ha ha. -

I just have to vent and say that I hate this waiting process. I won't hear from most of my programs until mid or late March.... are they torturing us on purpose??? -
Congrats @julianorts!!!

Speaking of Interview Attire...
plume replied to SLPsingballs's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I was told to wear a suit to Boston interviews because it is a more conservative city. Does anyone have any experience with interviews in Boston? Will that be overkill? Thankfully you can take a jacket off if needed, but I still wanted to ask! -

Also, I second H&M, but also Express. You can also find good deals at Nordstrom Rack. -

I also think it depends on location. Business casual (slacks or skirt with sweater or blouse) would work for most programs, but I was told to dress in a suit in more conservative locations. However, I have only interviewed for professional jobs before, not grad programs! -
Congrats! I'm hoping to have a similar report on my Sunday interview!

That's not silly! I think we would all by lying if we said we didn't worry about our interview attire I second that the cropped look is great! Just as long as you look neat, put together, and comfortable.

Acceptances, Waitlists, Rejections 2017
plume replied to jmk's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thanks for starting this thread @jmk! -
I don't know if this matters at all to you, but I thought I would mention it... I lived in Salt Lake City for a few years, and I know that Provo is a very suburban town and its population is mostly LDS (I think it's about 95% LDS). I just thought I would mention this as it would be a bit of a cultural shock for me to live there since I am not Mormon. Utah is amazing and Salt Lake City is a cool city if you know where to look! Also, I feel like I have to leave a disclaimer: I have many LDS friends and have absolutely nothing against the faith!!!!

I applied to Appalachian State, but I don't know any more about the program than what is listed on their website. The waiting is indeed painful... I can't wait until March! Good luck!

What a great idea @SLPLaura! Thanks!

My interview is for the regular program.
-
Oh, thanks for clarifying! I'm going to read the new stats now!
-
It is correct, but outdated. Someone else may correct me here, but I want to say their information is from two or three years ago? So things have changed. I think it can still give you an idea, but you have to contact each program to get up-to-date statistics, unfortunately.

Many graduate programs do not allow you to work, unfortunately. I mean, I'm not sure if they can really "not allow" you to, but it is highly discouraged for many programs. If you haven't already, I would call the programs you applied to and ask about this. Someone asked at the open house of my local university, and they just told her she couldn't work. I'm sorry though, I don't have any insight on the right kind of job if you are able to work!

@maurmaur Sidenote, but how to you like Tucson? I applied to U of A but I don't know much about the area! I am from Colorado and have spent time in Arizona, just not that area. Thanks for any insight Also, YES, I totally get the anxiety thing! It's a big reason why I use this forum, ha ha!

I think it is appropriate for you to send a polite email about this again at the end of the week or early next week, especially if interview days are coming up soon. Schools understand that people may have to make travel arrangements and need to know early on, but are swamped at this time of the year. It took a few days for me to hear about a scheduled interview time after submitting my availability.

Yep, I had to do one for University of the Pacific. I thought it would be easier than an interview and better, but I found it sort of awkward. I had to do a lot of takes because I felt like it was really hard to let my personality come through. And there is something about not having an adrenaline rush to help you perform in a video recording...

Sorry, I don't, but I do know that CU, NM State, and U of AZ don't. I also read on one school's website that I am applying to that they will sometimes interview in special cases, but applicants are usually admitted based off of their paper application.
