  1. Which programs are you applying to? UA, Univ of Texas at Dallas, UNC chapel Hill, Temple, Baylor, NMSU, Northern Arizona University, Penn State. All over the country! Where are you from? Maryland! Sadly, there are no great options here for out of field applicants What are your biggest concerns about applications? Being an out of field applicant, I do not have too much experience directly relating to speech pathology. I have extensive experience working with kids and doing research with them though! I am also worried about my low quant score. Hopefully my high verbal score will make up for it. Good luck to everyone!
  2. I am taking the GRE for the second time on December 2nd so you're not the only one!
  3. Your scores sound fine to me! What do you guys think about a 143 Quant and a 157 Verbal?
  4. Many schools do not require your application to be verified by the due date, of course it doesn't hurt to have them verified anyway!
  5. Hello everyone! Thank you to all of you for all of your help through out this process, you are seriously amazing people! I planned to apply to University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, but as I was completing their prereqs section on CSDCAS, I am a bit confused if I am eligible. Their website says you must complete all prereqs prior to beginning graduate coursework, does this mean you can complete these courses there, or they expect you to have completed them elsewhere?
  6. I am entering everything in right now, and it takes about an hour or so. To me, it was not at all worth it to pay them to do it.
  7. Yeah, I figured since it was earlier on and it was my only on, it's not worth mentioning. Thanks so much for your help!
  8. Hi everyone! I have one C on my transcript and it was in ENGL 100, should I explain that on my SOP? Thanks!
  9. I definitely will still ask another Spanish professor that I know well, only issue is that for some schools I need all three letters to be from faculty, so I would still needs hers. I am going to wait a bit longer, and then see if I can set up an appointment with her. I appreciate your advice, it is true that I do not want to upset her!
  10. I was thinking to see her in person...Her and I had a pretty good relationship and she did tell me that I would need to remind her since she is the department head and tends to get very busy! Thank you for your great advice, sorry that you also had to deal with this!
  11. Thank you :)! I am currently only studying quant and have about a month to go!
  12. Hello! I need some advice on how to best deal with a professor not responding to my e-mails. In the summer I spoke with my Spanish professor in person about writing me a letter of recommendation. I have taken two classes with her and did very well in both of them so she would be a great recommender. However, she has not responded for weeks to an e-mail I sent reminding her of my letter with a detailed document of instructions for each school. I just sent another e-mail (yesterday) with more schools that I added, and am waiting on a response. How should I best handle the situation if she is slow in responding this time? I am thinking of also getting another Spanish professor to write another letter, for security and for some schools that want all of the letters to come from faculty. Would it look bad to have two Spanish professors writing me letters? My other professor is from psychology and I worked in her lab. Thanks in advance!
  13. I would not retake it! That's a fair score.
  14. How long did you study for if you don't mind me asking?
  15. Hm...When I go on CSDCAS it has an option to submit one at a time and an option to submit all my applications at once. Thank you for all the help though :)!
  16. That is what I have been doing so far; I only bought the magoosh math prep, and not the verbal portion. I am applying for next fall and am signed up to take the GRE on december 2nd. Most of my schools have the FEB 1 deadline. Do you think this is still pushing it too close? Thanks for the help!
  17. Hello everyone! I am an out of field applicant and I recently took my GRE test and got a 157 verbal, 143 quant (ouch!) and a 4.0 for the essay. I plan to retake my GREs in december and hope I can get a 150 for the quant. However, I am not feeling too confident! If somehow I do not end up improving on the quant, will schools look past it since I achieved the 300 total score? Thanks!
  18. Don't feel too worried! Try to get your verbal up if you can, so that your total score can be a 300. I am in the same boat as I have a 143 Quant and a 157 Verbal! I absolutely hate the GRE. I would also try to apply to a few schools that are outside of the top 25, for speech pathology it seems many of the programs are very similar. Good luck to you!
  19. Hello everyone! I am a senior with a psychology major and am currently applying to SLP grad schools for FALL 2018. I have a 3.7 GPA and will be taking the GRE this week, but am not feeling too confident about my math scores. I have a lot of research experience from psych, but not too much experience within the field of speech pathology (just 25 hours of me observing). I have strong letters of recommendation as well. Does anyone know any schools that do not require the GRE or seem like a good fit for me as a non major? Or if anyone has any tips in general! I would greatly appreciate the help, as it has been tough to navigate the process. Currently I am applying to University of Arizona, University of Texas at Dallas, UNC Chapel Hill, Baylor, and Temple. Thank you!
