2018 Speech Pathology Graduate Applicants
Southwestspeechie replied to ObsessLP's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I would think that they would even look at your grad GPA even more since that is a better indicator of how you would do in another grad program! Good luck to you!- 439 replies

Ask Away: 1st Year Grad Student
Southwestspeechie replied to minti13's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hello! Thanks for offering your experience! I know this may depend on the program, but about how many hours are spent on coursework a week? Also, do you think having a part time job is possible while studying? -
This may be a dumb question but do we have to send FAFSA to schools before we are accepted? Or can they access it themselves?

SLP Denied Acceptance/Acceptance Q's
Southwestspeechie replied to TXapplicant's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
That's terrible that they did not even tell you! With all of the application fees, everyone deserves a response. -
I noticed some people have already heard back from UoA, would you mind sharing when you applied and if you applied for the 3yr/2yr program? Thanks!
-
I am with you on that! I especially hate when schools use CSDCAS AND have their own application (for two different fees of course ), it's a complete waste. Cal State Apply sounds much better! By the way, ASU seems like a great program and Phoenix is such a great city, so congrats on getting in there!

I agree with the other commenter, call SJSU. I don't thin you wasted the money because I highly doubt this will cause them to throw away your application. Quick question, what did you mean about letter grades? I entered in all of my grades as letter grades on CSDCAS because that is what is on my transcript. They verified my application with those grades too. Best of luck and try not to worry too much! This situation can be remediated!

Temple Help!
Southwestspeechie replied to Southwestspeechie's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Their response was that it is a writing sample in which you should address your goals and include responses to the prompts. They said there is no word limit either. -

Thank you again :). They e-mailed back but were still pretty vague, oh well! -

I agree! I don't see why the second prompt about disagreeing with a supervisor aids them in making their admissions decisions. -

Yeah, I think I should e-mail them too at this point! The deadline is Feb 1st, so I don't want to cut it any closer. On CSDCAS it just has one file upload and only lists the two specific prompts. Thanks for the advice :). -
Hello everyone! Hope your applications are going well. If anyone has applied to Temple or is currently applying I have a question. I was about to submit my application and as I was rereading all the application procedures I got confused about the essay portion. On CSDCAS it just has the two prompts to respond to but on their website it says, "A personal statement that addresses your goals and two prompts outlined on CSDCAS application." Do they want a sort of general personal statement AND responses to the two prompts? I wrote responses that specifically answer the prompts and am just wondering if I should add more general stuff too. I appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

Hello, I noticed you are applying to Temple! I am about to submit my application but am confused about their writing sample. Do they want you to submit a general personal statement AND responses to the 2 prompts? It's not clear on CSDCAS, but on their website it seems they want both... Thanks!- 439 replies

CSDCAS Academic Update for Planned Pre-Reqs

When you assigned those courses to your application for that school and then submitted, unfortunately I believe you cannot change it after. -
Hi everyone! Does anyone know if the 50th percentile for the GRE that penn state lists on the application requirements is a complete cutoff? I cannot find any information if this is what they mean and figured I would ask here before sending them an e-mail. Thank you!
-
Hello! I am applying to the University of Arizona and it is my top choice so I would love some feedback. Do you know how harshly they judge the GRE quant score? Also, do you know if the stats of the leveling students tend to be higher or lower than those of the non-leveler students? Thank you so much!

Late Required Transcript
Southwestspeechie replied to estc123's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Hello, Did you check if your programs require verification of your application by their due date? Most do not require this, and a great number just require that you submit your application by their due date, not even requiring it to be marked complete. Check CSDCAS website to determine what your programs ask for. Good luck!- 5 replies

I agree with most of the above posters, even if it's such a small round up, I wouldn't do it. You could always write it as 3.85, if you didn't want to have all three decimal places. It's a great GPA either way!

It sounds like you have a lot of great other aspects of your application going for you . I also scored less than 50th percentile (on the quant section) so I know how you feel, it sucks! Best of luck to you.- 439 replies
