  1. I am declining my offers to Baylor, New Mexico State University, Northern Arizona University, and will be taking myself off of the wait list for Temple. Good luck everyone! I just got off the wait list for my first choice and I hope good news is coming your way too!
  2. ACCEPTED INTO UA!!! I will be accepting this offer!
  3. Also got this e-mail! They probably wait listed a lot of people and are now trying to trim the wait list down. I feel like they are going to accept people of the wait list soon.
  4. Finally heard back from UTD! It was a rejection but I am not hurt at all, just glad that I finally have a response from all of my schools. Already committed to Northern Arizona University For those of you waiting on UT dallas, check your portal!
  5. I completely understand your reasons to not jump in to ABA, I also shadowed a bit of it and did not enjoy it. It's so frustrating that you did your research on these schools on edfind and it didn't work out in the end! I empathize with you about the math difficulties, I also have dyscalculia and hate how much it can affect my career goals since we have to take standardized tests. I think doing anything that might boost up your GPA is a great idea, so I think finishing your second degree is a good choice. Observing is always great, but the main problem I ran into with just observing was I couldn't wasn't as engaged as I would be if I was actually working with kids. That might be specific to where I observed at though! Are there any summer camps or places that allow you to observe speech therapy but be a bit more involved besides only observation?
  6. I think if you were wait listed absolutely e-mail them reaffirming your interest! If this isn't after a wait list, I wouldn't. Expressing interest in a program is a great part to include in your SOP, but after you already turn in your application I would not e-mail them those points. One thing you could do (if this is at all possible) is to find a faculty member that matches your interests and possibly meeting with them during a visit to the program. Best of luck to you!
  7. I think some good options would be to gain some more hands experience in the field or work as a RBT for a year and reapply next cycle. It sounds like you already have some good experience with ABA, and I know some therapy places for that also have a speech pathologist working there, which could provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain more experience. Have you already researched these schools on edfind to gather what kind of applicants they accept? I do not think this is the end for you in the field of speech pathology! I know many people who had to apply 2 or 3 cycles. If this is really what you are passionate about, keep going!
  8. I highly recommend e-mailing the schools! I e-mailed my first choice to reaffirm my interest and why they are my top choice and they thanked me for the e-mail and explained to me a little bit more about the wait list. I don't really think that it bumped me up on the wait list or anything but it cannot hurt to keep your name fresh in their minds. They also told me that we will likely hear after the 15th! Good luck to you
  9. I think even if it wasn't on a Sunday we will still probably hear after the 15th. One of my schools wants a snail mail decision that has to be postmarked by the 14th so those types of schools will definitely take longer!
  10. Hi everyone! I am currently wait listed for my dream school and want to ask my contact at that school about the possibility of transferring there after my first leveling year at another graduate program. I know this is a touchy subject so I wanted to know if anyone had any tips on how to best ask. I was also planning on including if she had any other advice for me, as another option would be to enroll as a non-degree student and try to take as many leveling classes at that school prior to applying again. In the end I may not want to transfer as my other pick seems like a great program as well! I only wanted to inquire about if this is possible. Thanks in advance!
  11. Oh wow! Since I am a leveling student I don't think I could afford that . Although it does seem like they fund a lot of their students! Thank you for your help
  12. Hello! I noticed you were also accepted to Baylor. Do you know how much their tuition is? Sorry, I was having a hard time finding the exact amount.
  13. Yeah, I am leaning towards Northern Arizona. Thanks for your input!
  14. I did tour Northern Arizona. I like Arizona as a state more than Texas since I have close family there. I would have toured Baylor but they just let me know of my acceptance yesterday, which doesn't leave me with enough time to tour before I make a decision.
  15. I'm feeling pretty conflicted in deciding between Baylor and Northern Arizona...anyone have any insight?!
  16. Got accepted to Baylor! Is there anyone else that was accepted to Baylor that can tell me what exactly the tuition is?
  17. I was having a hard time, but in my case school has been a welcomed distraction! What helps me is to set a schedule to complete my work and really stick to it. Schedule in time to just focus on applications! I am also a fan of playing classical music (or any other kind of focus music) to really help me put my attention on work. Grab a study snack or a favorite beverage to help pair your schoolwork with something positive, but not distracting. We are almost there, hang in!
  18. I declined my offer to George Washington a little bit ago!
  19. Still waiting on Baylor and UTD dallas. For those who were accepted to Baylor, did your grad app change to include a section that says its waiting for degree confirmation?
  20. But she's not holding the spot on purpose...It's not her fault if she's notified about an acceptance to her top choice after April 15th. I am also taking this decision and I have tried to start denying acceptances as soon as I know because I know what being wait listed feels like. But it's other students that are sitting on offers until April 15th that are the reason that we might be notified after we already have to make a decision.
  21. Quick question, if I commit and send a deposit at one school and then my wait list school accepts me, I can still accept the offer from the wait list school right? I know I would lose the deposit.
