  1. This was kind of my situation. I think you should try and go ahead and apply! Throw what you have out there. Mine ended up working out because that one professor was EXTREMELY strong and wrote a great letter.
  2. Fellow Washingtonian here! I definitely think strong GRE scores (especially for a PhD program) will help out your lower GPA. Just put everything you have out there!
  3. Am also from WA! I have a friend in UW's electrical engineering program and he absolutely loves it. He did his undergrad at Central and UW as well. I wish I knew more about the program, but I can see the benefits of going to Texas just because of the new opportunities, and growth, and all that jazz. Plus sunshine. Vitamin D is very important.
  4. Hello everyone! I just had a quick question for those of you who have had a semester schedule, or for those of you who have had both quarters/semesters. The school I have decided to attend is on a semester system, and I'm just trying to figure out what to expect. I have only ever been on the quarter system so I am used to taking about 3 classes per quarter totaling around 15 credits for all three classes (usually 5 credits per class). I am looking at my grad packet with my classes listed for next fall and it also totals 15 credits, but there's 5 classes. (3, 3, 3, 4, 2). Anyway, I am beyond confused. Looking at it almost feels overwhelming because I am not used to taking so many classes at the same time, but I know the semester system is more spread out than the quarter system. If you all have experience with the semester system please let me know what you liked/didn't like about it! if you have had experience with both, can you tell me what going from one to the other is like? Anything I should be aware of? Any advice?! Thank you all so much!!
  5. When the admissions committee told you you should hear back within a couple days and that was on Monday ? okay
  6. This actually helped me so much. thank you.
  7. Another Update: Program: School Counseling Schools: Gonzaga University, WWU, EWU Status: Accepted (2/3) Rejected (0/3) Interview (1/3) Hope everyone is doing well!! We got this!
  8. I think it depends on the school. I’ve seen some where it could be as short as one semester and others where it’s the whole time while you’re there.
  9. This is so.... harsh. Like YIKES that person must have been having a bad day. Honestly I would take that as a sign that the program might not be a good fit for you like you thought it was. I sure wouldn’t want to go to a school that responds like that :/ it hurt my feelings and it wasn’t even an email for me. I’m so sorry!!
  10. AN UPDATE: I think I'm actually starting to lose my mind. I had two interviews this week, and for one of them we were told we would hear back within 3-5 days. Well. It's day 3 and FRIDAY so I got my hopes up that I would hear from them today, because why would they send out acceptances on the weekend?! If anyone knows anything about this please let me know! I'm not sure if they meant 3-5 business days or what... but anyway, lots of refreshing and disappointment to see nothing. My anxiety is fierce and I have no motivation to do anything else. I really want to go to this school!!

  13. Hello everyone! I just wanted to start a topic for school counseling/counseling masters applicants, because it seems like there are quite a few of us out there! Plus our process and timelines for applying/getting accepted are a little different - so we can wait together here. Would love to hear what everyone is doing!! Program: School Counseling Schools: WWU, Gonzaga University, EWU Accepted: (0/3) Rejected: (0/3) Interviews: (1/3) Waiting: (2/3)
  14. hi friends! Gotta spill. Alright. So my top choice for grad school is the university I am currently at. I know most of the profs in my program, I know most of the graduate faculty etc... In fact, one of the graduate faculty wrote me a letter of recommendation. However, my school is extremely difficult to get into (for grad school) because there are only 6 spots. I keep getting told over and over again that the applicants vary from year to year and some just have more experience than others straight out of undergrad. I understand that if I get rejected it doesn't necessarily mean I am not qualified.. just that there are only 6 spots. Anyway, I am scared sh*tless to get rejected from my current school. What makes it worse is that I have class this quarter with the professor that wrote me a letter of recommendation....!! I'm trying to proactively cope and figure out how I am going to handle going to class everyday if I get rejected from here... ugh! Also I'm just so sad and terrified of letting her down. It's quite likely that this is what will end up happening - just because I am trying to get in right out of undergrad... but I figure I have somewhat of a decent shot at getting an interview maybe? Anyway, this felt good. Send any tips or advice you have :)))
  15. Hello! I am also finishing my bachelors, and I’m applying to school counseling programs. I went back and forth on school psych vs counseling for a long time and I met with a couple professors who gave me extra info! The first thing I would say is that it depends on your state. I would check government websites or maybe linked in or something to see what type most people who are employed as school psychologists in your state have. Also, in my state usually school psych programs are 3 years and counseling are 2 - are there a difference in length between your programs? Which would you rather do? The nice thing about doing a counseling program w a specilization would be the option to “change your mind” and do something else. I would also check on accredation with the counseling program and the school psych concentration. Does it give you licensure to be an ESA? If so then it probably doesn’t matter. However, Ed.S. are typically what most school psychologists have so there is a good chance that they might favor someone who has that title over someone who has a similar degree to a school counselor.. if that makes sense.
  16. I just hysterally started laughing in bed and it is 2:17am
  17. Yay! Another school counseling friend out there. Good luck
