  1. This sounds insane. LOL I only interviewed with my PI last week, and some other faculty. I hope you’ve been taking lots of vitamins, drinking orange juice, DayQuil, NyQuil, and all in between. Being in and out of interviews all day is extremely exhausting, I can’t imagine doing that while sick ?
  2. Which program is this? Is this a fully or partially funded APA accredited program? I’ve never heard of a candidate receiving an invite and not having any research experience or at least some degree of research-related skills. To answer your specific question: For reputable, fully or partially funded programs that are APA accredited, research experience is essential, not only for admissions, but in order for students to progress through the program successfully. It’s a research-based degree, therefore the experience and foundational knowledge of research is crucial. Anyone who tells you otherwise is clearly lying and/or severely uninformed re: the amount of rigor, time, and effort necessary to obtain a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology.
  3. So I've officially entered Phase II in this process (Waiting to hear regarding Acceptances/Waitlists/Rejections post-interview). According to most of the schools I applied to, within 1-1 1/2 weeks MAX from interviews is the appropriate time frame to hear from schools, at least with acceptances. ALL THE PRESSURE! ALL THE ANXIETY! HOORAY! IT NEVER ENDS!
  4. Just wanted to say...... WOW. The packages offered for some of these programs are simply incredible, compared to Clinical Psychology! Lol
  5. We'll hopefully see each other at Open House, both tracks attend this! 4 weeks to go! Also, civilian applicants only have one day of interviews, which should be less anxiety producing lol
  6. I'm very familiar with the program and faculty, and I have never heard of this being the case. Different committees, departments, and agencies within the university work together for the recruitment of civilian vs. military. There are also separate processes involved before the interview specifically for military applicants. The civilian track is very competitive, I've heard about 175+ applications for 1-2 spots every year, at the most. Usually they interview about 12-15 applicants for these 1-2 specific spots. Let me know if you have other questions.
  7. This sucks so much ?. And there’s not much you can do about it. Try not to let these thoughts get to you. Go through the interview day(s) giving it your best effort and gracefully interact with all students/applicants as planned. This happened to me last time I applied-the PI literally chose the RA already working in her lab. Probably just went through the “motions of the interviews” but wanted her own lab’s RA the whole time... In hindsight, it all felt like a waste of time for everyone involved honestly. Blah. I’m interviewing with that exact program again this year- Btw. It’s strange and uncomfortable, but the nature of the game.
  8. I love this template response. Will definitely be using this for several programs!
  9. PSA: Please do not be that applicant that is overly aggressive during social events. I met an applicant today who was SO aggressive/controlling of every conversation between applicants and graduate students of the program, she was so exhausting. I’m sure she was doing this to be nice/talkative and not come off as uninterested, but it clearly rubbed me the wrong way. These interviews aren’t supposed to be cut-throat or competitions between applicants, folks. I would NOT want to this person as a classmate or colleague- I hope I never see her again lol ?
  10. Feeling SO grateful for all of the amazing TSA/government employees/airport staff working through this inexplicable/unnecessary shut down. To those of you off to interviews over the upcoming days/weeks: Remember to thank and recognize them. ❤️
  11. Lots of good energies your way. I'm sorry this was the outcome, I read on here how excited you were about this program. You have 2 more interviews to kick a$$ at and other programs who think your credentials are amazing. Brush it off, begin preparing for them, learn from your first interview, don't let this get to you! ❤️
  12. This is something to talk about in your interviews. I think it would be inappropriate to e-mail schools simply about a publication update on your CV.
  13. All these schools have sent out invites. I've seen them on here and the Results thread.
  14. That was me. I’m almost certain they sent out all their invites today, the department finished reviews last week. I know someone (from a different lab than mine) who received an invite today as well (he received an e-mail after me). Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, good luck with the rest of your schools
  15. Today's a good day!!!!!! We are (90% almost there) going to grad school!!!!!!!!!!! lol
  16. School: Uniformed Services University Type: Clinical Psychology PhD (MT) Date of invite: 1/22/19 Type of invite: Email Soooooooooooo excited! Ahhhhh!
  17. Lol @ profresh- Hope they arrive in time so you can wear them!!
  18. Purchased another pant/suit option I liked (way better) today...... looks like it won't arrive in time for my first interview, even after paying expensive ass shipping........... excellent
  19. Yep. My partner has been with me through all my undergraduate and post-bac years (trials, tribulations, moves across the country, miseries, highs, lows, all in between)... This has been a wild journey, for the both of us. I will need this support and partnership, on steroids, all throughout grad school LOL And long-distance sucks so f$%king much, btw, definitely not trying to do that again at all!
  20. Especially when you have a partner, who also has a career... and so you're juggling/considering a million things at once, because any decision directly impacts his/her career. I TOO AM SO MF EMOTIONALLY DRAINED, let me wrap up these interviews lord I can't have anxieties in so many directions at once lmfao ?
  21. Same here. Some mornings I feel great, by the afternoon I feel like $h!t at the thought of not knowing. I'm looking forward to being somewhere for 4-5 years, but packing/moving somewhere new, with people I don't know, and having to develop trust and relationships with a whole new crew all over again is.... overwhelming.
  22. I'm letting every. single. program. know they are incredible/amazing/my top choice (without really explicitly using the word "top choice"). Periodt. I'll have already spent $300-$400, per interview, at the end of this whole damn process.
  23. All we can do is wait and see when the Russian agent will decide to re-open the government. I'm almost certain faculty will still process apps/interview civilian track, with hopes that by March all issues regarding funds are sorted out.
