  1. I heard back from my first interview two weeks after via phone- unfortunately I was rejected. I spoke to someone else who also interviewed and was accepted and she heard back in 1 week. I guess rejection calls are harder to make.
  2. That makes sense. I guess it could also do with the specific funding sources from each POI. Thanks for your input!
  3. Congrats on your acceptance!! Reading through your post made me curious. Has anyone else who has received acceptances received info about stipends? I guess I’d like to see what the “norm” would be across multiple programs.
  4. Yes! Scary! I'm wondering what applicants' experiences were like when interviewing; especially with those POIs. I mean, if you meet with current students during the interviews, how can they fake pleasure with the program?
  5. I filled it out right away just in case- didn't want even something as simple as that to get in the way ?And awesome! Thank you for offering to keep me posted on their interview process. Good luck on your interview tomorrow!! Sending good vibes!
  6. This is actually helpful! Glad you chimed in; I remember you posting about the phone interview and was wondering whether you had received a similar email. I think it makes sense that it could be dependant on POI. BTW, I have only seen phone interviews and acceptances for this program on the results page. Do you know if they hold official interviews on campus? Thanks again!
  7. Gotcha! I wonder if this something that everyone receives and whether it plays a role in being considered. Guess we'll find out soon!
  8. Just received an email this morning from UNC Chapel Hill's school psychology program for me to complete a qualtrics survey by Feb. 10th in reference to potential funding opportunities for which I might qualify. This is the first email I receive from this particular program. Wondering if this means I will be considered/interviewed. I'm not really sure how this particular program does it. Has anyone else received any similar emails?
  9. Just received an email this morning from UNC Chapel Hill's school psychology program for me to complete a qualtrics survey by Feb. 10th in reference to potential funding opportunities for which I might qualify. This is the first email I receive from this particular program. Wondering if this means I will be interviewed/considered for admittance. I'm not really sure how this particular program does it. Has anyone else received any similar emails from Chapel Hill or any other program?
  10. I don’t have specific information about the programs you mentioned but wanted to give you hope about your age. I’m 30 and am applying to PhD programs in psychology. I think you have outstanding experiences that will serve as an invaluable advantage on your apps. Also, because you’re older, you have a clear understanding of what you’re getting into and clear direction. I think graduate schools and advisors will appreciate this. Rooting for you!!
  11. @brighteyes and @lovekilledinos this my biggest worry by far as well. I have taken a leap of faith and began cleaning out my house and boxing most of my books. *cue Marie Kondo’s “does it spark joy?”* Ready to fast forward to April 15!
  12. I was also waitlisted at UVA. Thank you for the information! Glad there's still a bit of hope! Also, does anyone know if accepting an eventual offer after having been waitlisted affect any sort of funding?
  13. I received an email from UVA-Curry to check my status and assumed it was the official rejection. However, it turned out to be a notification to let me know that I have been "waitlisted for admission" and that they will contact me if an opening occurs. This is my one of my top schools so I am at least hopeful and happy that I wasn't rejected straight away. Has anyone been waitlisted prior to interviews? What should I expect as someone who has been waitlisted? Is this in case they have openings after their Feb 8th interview?
  14. Me too. Mine was post-interview so I had already received a rejection phone call :'(
  15. I emailed UVA Curry yesterday to find out whether they were done extending invites for their clinical psych program. This was their response: "Admissions decisions will be available by February 15th; you'll receive an e-mail directing you to log back into your application account, in order to view your decision. I'm sorry the department does not issue any more explicit detail than that." I'm assuming this will be the official rejection for sure.
  16. Thank you for your words of encouragement! Very sweet of you ❤️Good luck on your interviews!
  17. Just got my first rejection after interviewing at a program. I got a call from the director of the program and he explained that they could only accept 4 students from the 6 candidates that interviewed. It really sucks to know that I was one of the bottom 2 ?He also gave me some feedback and said that based on my research interests, they thought I was better suited for a school psychology (which I have applied to as well) or special education program. He also mentioned that if I had the opportunity to get additional research experience, I should. Which sucks because I have 5 summers and 3 years of research coordinator experience. I have two more interviews coming up and now I'm feeling a little nervous about those. Sorry for the Debbie Downer message. Didn't think this would get me so down.
  18. Reply to everyone for sure. And just be yourself. I always say something like, "These are exciting news! Thank you for the opportunity to interview. I will be in attendance and look forward to...." And congrats!! These ARE exciting news!
  19. I heard that UVA Curry had a second round if interview invites in past years. It looks like they already sent out interview invites and gave the option of two different dates. Does anyone know how accurate that would be for this year?
  20. I can very much relate to this. Most of my experience and training has been in a related but different field (from psychology), and this was something that really made me question my ability and potential coming into the application process. But as I have received interview invites to my top programs (with no networking opportunities), I've realized that fit with the programs is definitely a huge thing (as I thought this was the biggest thing I had going for me). I was petrified going into my first interview a couple of weeks back. Once there and after meeting the faculty and discussing current research projects, I knew there was no way I would have felt comfortable talking about research topics I had no interest in and I think that's what helped me feel like I did well. Now I just hope they feel just as confident about me as I feel about myself ? All of this to say that "our" idea of a perfect candidate is not always "their" idea of a perfect candidate and sometimes we just get really into our heads. Good luck!
  21. I applied to the UNC Chapel Hill school psych program and haven't heard anything from them just yet. I'm hoping that they just haven't began sending out interview invites.
